The skies above New Asgard were heavy with dark clouds, and the wind had started to pick up as a storm rolled in. Inside one of the larger halls, Y/N was setting up a cozy space for Thor, who had regressed earlier in the day. The mighty God of Thunder was usually fearless, but in his little state, things were very different.

Thor had regressed to the mindset of a young child, around four years old. In this state, despite his powers, he was terrified of loud noises, especially thunder. It was ironic, Y/N thought, that the God of Thunder himself would be afraid of the very thing he controlled, but little Thor didn't see it that way. To him, thunder was big, scary, and unpredictable.

As Y/N finished arranging a pile of soft blankets and pillows on the floor, Thor shuffled into the room, clutching a stuffed goat that Y/N had given him—one of his favorites named Toothgnasher. His usually bold and confident expression was replaced with wide, anxious eyes as he looked out the window at the brewing storm.

"Y/N... it's loud," Thor whimpered, holding Toothgnasher tightly against his chest.

Y/N immediately went to his side, crouching down so they were eye-level. "I know, Thor. It's a little scary, isn't it? But you know what? We're safe inside, and I'm right here with you, okay?"

Thor nodded but didn't look convinced. The distant rumble of thunder made him jump, and he quickly hid his face against Y/N's shoulder. He was trembling slightly, and Y/N's heart broke at how vulnerable the once-mighty god was in his little state.

Y/N wrapped their arms around Thor in a gentle hug, rubbing his back in slow circles. "Shh, it's alright. The storm can't hurt you. I've got you, Thor."

Thor sniffled, his voice small. "Don't like it... too loud..."

Y/N gently pulled back and took Thor's hand, guiding him to the blanket fort they had set up. "Come on, let's make a cozy fort. The thunder can't bother us in here."

Thor hesitated for a moment, then followed Y/N into the small sanctuary made of blankets and pillows. Once inside, Y/N helped Thor sit down and wrapped a thick blanket around his shoulders. They made sure his stuffed goat was close by, giving it a little squeeze to make Thor smile.

Another loud clap of thunder echoed through the air, and Thor's face crumpled as he pressed his hands over his ears. "Make it stop," he whimpered.

Y/N scooted closer, pulling Thor into their lap and holding him securely. "Hey, Thor, I've got an idea," Y/N said softly. "Why don't we pretend the thunder is just the clouds playing a big game of tag? They're just having fun, and they're not here to scare you. Can you imagine that?"

Thor peeked up at Y/N through his messy blonde hair, blinking slowly. "Clouds play tag?"

Y/N smiled and nodded. "Yeah! They chase each other around, and when one catches the other, that's when you hear the big boom. It's just their way of saying 'gotcha!' But it's all in good fun. The clouds are playing up there, and they're being a little noisy, but they're not trying to scare anyone."

Thor looked thoughtful for a moment, his grip on Toothgnasher loosening just a little. "Just a game?"

"Yep, just a game," Y/N said, brushing Thor's hair back gently. "And you know what? You're safe down here with me. We're in our fort, and no thunder can get us in here."

Thor seemed to relax at that, nestling further into Y/N's embrace. He still flinched when the thunder cracked again, but it wasn't as bad as before. He buried his face against Y/N's chest, holding onto the comfort that came from their steady presence.

"Wanna stay here," Thor mumbled.

"You can stay here as long as you want," Y/N reassured him, stroking his back soothingly. "How about we tell a story while we wait for the storm to pass? Would you like that?"

Thor nodded, shifting so he could lean against Y/N more comfortably. "A story 'bout the clouds?"

Y/N chuckled softly. "Sure, I'll tell you all about the clouds and their silly game of tag."

With that, Y/N began weaving a gentle story about playful clouds running across the sky, chasing each other and playing hide-and-seek behind the sun. They made sure to keep their voice soft and calming, knowing that the rhythmic tone would help ease Thor's fears.

As the story went on, Thor's body began to relax completely in Y/N's arms. The tension slowly left his little frame, and by the time Y/N finished telling the tale, Thor's breathing had evened out. He had fallen asleep, his head resting peacefully against Y/N's shoulder.

The storm outside raged on, but inside the blanket fort, everything was calm. Y/N smiled down at the sleeping god in their arms, gently adjusting the blanket around him to make sure he stayed warm and comfortable.

"You're safe, Thor," Y/N whispered, placing a soft kiss on top of his head. "I'll always be here to keep you safe."

As the thunder rumbled one last time, Y/N settled in, content to hold Thor close until the storm had passed, knowing that their little god had nothing to fear as long as they were together.
