The meeting room was quiet, the only sounds were the low hum of voices discussing reports, strategies, and numbers—everything Tony usually adored, but not right now. Right now, his focus was on something else entirely: Dada.
Tony had slipped into his little space quietly, a subtle shift in his demeanor that no one but Y/N might have noticed. He'd gone from the confident, genius billionaire to something smaller, more vulnerable, without realizing it. His legs swung restlessly under the table, and his hands fidgeted with the edge of his shirt. His mind, usually buzzing with calculations and ideas, now just wanted one thing: Dada's attention.
He tried to focus on the papers in front of him, but it was no use. He just couldn't ignore the nagging feeling in his chest that wanted nothing more than to be held, to be close to Y/N. He needed his Dada's reassuring touch, to feel safe and cared for like only Y/N could do.
"Dada..." Tony's voice was soft, barely a whisper, as he looked over at Y/N, his eyes wide and full of unspoken need. He shuffled closer to where Y/N sat, his little fingers reaching out to tug on the edge of their sleeve.
Y/N glanced down at Tony with a small smile, their heart melting at the sight of him. But then they looked at the screen, then back at Tony, silently reminding him that they were in the middle of something important.
"Tony," Y/N said gently, trying to keep their voice calm and reassuring, "I need to finish this. Just a little while longer, okay?"
Tony's face fell slightly, but he quickly tried to hide it. He nodded, but it was clear he didn't understand. The need for his Dada's attention was overwhelming, and it felt like the room was spinning. He didn't want to be ignored—he didn't want to be small and invisible, not with everything going on around him.
He let out a tiny whine, more out of frustration than anything, his little hands gripping the side of Y/N's chair now. "Dada..." His voice was quieter now, tinged with a little more desperation. "Need you. P-Please..." He sniffed, a subtle sign that he was starting to get upset, tears threatening to well up in his eyes.
Y/N's gaze softened instantly, the stern tone of the meeting and the serious business talks fading away in the face of their little one's distress. They looked over at the team and gave them a quick, apologetic smile before standing up and crouching next to Tony's chair, making sure to keep things subtle but giving him the attention he needed.
"Hey, hey," Y/N murmured, their hand gently brushing through Tony's hair. "It's okay. I'm right here. You're not invisible. But Dada just needs a little time to finish this. You can sit with me, okay? I'll be here, just for you. You don't have to be alone."
Tony's bottom lip wobbled slightly as he clung to Y/N's chair, but as their fingers intertwined with his, he felt a sense of calm settle over him. He still wanted all of their attention, but this was the next best thing—having Y/N close, their presence a soothing balm to his baby brain.
Y/N settled back in their seat, pulling Tony closer so he could rest his head on their lap, their hand gently rubbing circles on his back. "I know it's hard," Y/N whispered. "But you're doing so good. I'm so proud of you for being patient."
Tony hummed softly, his body relaxing as he nestled closer, still feeling small but now comforted by the steady presence of his Dada. He didn't need the whole world; he just needed Y/N, and with them, he knew everything would be okay, even if the boring meeting had to go on for a while longer.
It wasn't perfect, but it was enough. And that made all the difference.
