"You're telling me I have to move just because of this?" Ye Zexi's expression was filled with disbelief.
Gao Shu remained serious. "Young master, you can't underestimate the power of CP fans. Some are just as invasive as sasaeng fans. If—and this is a big 'if'—fans find out that you and Film Emperor He are neighbors, it could cause a lot of unnecessary trouble."
[A sasaeng fan is an overly obsessive fan who invades the personal privacy of celebrities, often engaging in extreme and inappropriate behaviors. The term "sasaeng" comes from the Korean words "sa" (사) meaning "private" and "saeng" (생) meaning "life," referring to how these fans intrude into the private lives of public figures. Sasaeng fans often go beyond normal fandom activities by stalking celebrities, following them to their homes, or trying to obtain personal information such as phone numbers or addresses. Their actions cross the boundaries of respect and can cause distress or harm to the celebrities they target.]
"Even though we know you two have been neighbors for a long time, fans might not care about that. The more we explain, the less they'll listen. Things will only get messier."
"Then why bother explaining?" Ye Zexi replied nonchalantly. "I've been neighbors with Teacher He long before I even debuted. There's nothing to explain. Let the truth speak for itself."
Gao Shu was momentarily speechless.
Seeing that Ye Zexi wasn't taking the matter seriously, he chose not to press further. However, as a capable manager, Gao Shu had to be prepared for anything. During the flight, he gathered all the necessary information and drafted a statement for the PR team, instructing them to be on standby in case anything happened.
Ye Zexi, unaware of Gao Shu's foresight, couldn't have predicted that one day his personal statement would completely contradict the studio's official one.
But that's a story for later.
The third phase of filming was set in Guilin, which excited Ye Zexi immensely. Guilin, known for its breathtaking scenery, had always been one of his dream destinations. However, what really drew him in was the famous Guilin rice noodles.
As soon as they landed, Ye Zexi insisted on going for noodles with Gao Shu. Though initially reluctant, Gao Shu had no choice but to give in to Ye Zexi's enthusiasm.
What neither of them expected was to run into someone familiar even during a simple meal.
As they entered the mall, they overheard people shouting, "Quick, over there!"
"Who's here?"
"I heard it's the Boy Band of 'The Times Idol'!"
"Is there an event today?"
"Oh! I see Jiang Ran and Yu Yan!"
Hearing the familiar names, Ye Zexi paused and turned to Gao Shu. "Assistant Gao, is there an event here today?"
Gao Shu was already messaging someone to check. Shaking his head, he replied, "Not sure yet, but it seems crowded. Should we switch malls, young master?"
Ye Zexi didn't answer immediately, instead gazing at the throng of people in the distance. The crowd was so thick that he couldn't even catch a glimpse of what was happening. Even the third-floor stairwell was packed.
After a moment's thought, Ye Zexi took out his phone, snapped a photo, and grinned. "The more people, the better! No one will notice me in this crowd. Let's go. The restaurant we're heading to is on the second floor, and the reviews said it's a must-try."
Gao Shu sighed but couldn't argue, reminding him, "Young master, don't forget your mask and hat."
"Got it," Ye Zexi agreed cheerfully.
