Upon hearing He Jinyun's name, Gao Shu initially thought he might have misheard: "Who am I speaking to?"
"He Jinyun," He Jinyun repeated patiently.
Gao Shu immediately perked up and responded more warmly, "Oh, it's Teacher He. How can I help you?"
He Jinyun got straight to the point: "I'm currently preparing a film and there's a role I'm still looking to fill."
Gao Shu's eyes widened with excitement.
This was an unexpected opportunity!
While Ye Zexi might not be career-driven, Gao Shu certainly was!
He Jinyun was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly the conversation was going.
Before long, He Jinyun and Gao Shu arranged a meeting time and location. Gao Shu even requested an initial draft of the script to share with Ye Zexi.
At this point, He Jinyun hesitated but decided to gently remind Gao Shu: "I did discuss the film with Zexi before, but his response..."
It wasn't exactly a refusal, but it was an unequivocal no.
He Jinyun continued tactfully: "He's somewhat hesitant. If possible, Assistant Gao, you might want to review the script first. I've spoken with Mr. Ye, and he indicated that if you find it suitable, we can proceed with signing the contract."
"Mr. Chairman?" Gao Shu inquired.
He had heard that the He and Ye families had a good relationship. If the Chairman approved, it would be even more promising.
He Jinyun confirmed, "Yes, I've also shown him the contract."
Gao Shu responded immediately, "Great, I'll review the script and definitely finish it before Saturday. Let's meet and discuss then."
Relieved, He Jinyun smiled. "Thank you for your help."
Both parties were satisfied with the arrangement as they ended the call.
Meanwhile, Ye Zexi, completely unaware of this development, was diligently rehearsing in the studio.
It wasn't that Ye Zexi didn't want to slack off; he simply couldn't find the opportunity.
The final of "Times Idol" was approaching on Sunday, and the format had changed significantly.
There would be no more group battles; instead, the top ten contestants would be grouped together for two collective performances—one in vocal and one in dance.
After the group performances, each contestant would have their personal showcase, which must include both vocal and dance segments.
In other words, within less than a week, the ten contestants needed to prepare four performances.
There were only four debut spots, and only the top four contestants from the final night's voting would form the debut group.
Preparing the performances wasn't a problem for Ye Zexi, but he was troubled by the fact that, with no group battles, mentors Qu Xao and Shan Zeyu were now focused entirely on monitoring their training.
Whenever Ye Zexi tried to relax on a sofa, Shan Zeyu would sit down beside him, silently observing with a significant look.
Ye Zexi found himself reluctant to even take out his phone from his pocket.
Last night, Ye Zexi had been engrossed in a novel at a crucial point where the protagonist's disguise was about to be exposed, only for the author to announce that the next chapter would be updated the following day.
