"Maevah? Is something wrong?"

Rimuru who just returned to the palace after his quick meeting with his subordinates, found his wife at the balcony of their bedroom.

Worry was rolling off her in waves, sharp enough to cut through the tranquility of the night. She was so into her thoughts that she didn't hear him call her or notice his presence.

This worried the emperor even more. Approaching his wife, he placed his hand on her shoulder and turned her to him. Only then did Maevah snapped out of her trance.

"Oh, I'm sorry hubby, were you saying something?"

Rimuru's brows furrowed at that. How deep are her thoughts that it blocked everything around her?

"Love, what is going on? What is making you worry so much?" He questions straightforwardly, his golden orbs as if digging deep within her. Not that she can lie to him anyway. Her husband can make her talk whether or not she wanted to keep it a secret.

"The elements are restless. It's warning me of something. And when I asked our daughters about it, I saw fear, hubby. Pearl couldn't even answer and just burst out crying," she admitted.

The slime's surprised. No wonder Pearl's clinging to him a while back at the meeting and refused to go and rest at his imaginary space no matter how he coaxed her. So he had to hold her the entire meeting.

Anger filled his heart quickly. It enrages him that someone has the audacity to destroy nature for their own personal gain. He may not care about it but eversince he got his daughters, he could feel their emotions. And a single slip of fear or helplessness from them means rage for him.

Call him a doting, overprotective dad. He doesn't care. The moment someone lays a hand on his family and there's casualties, they're enemies for him.

"I feel the powers of nature getting sucked into something and I still can't put my finger into it. But it's something that must not be born. If this happens, it can affect our children Rimuru," Maevah's voice cracked in the end, conveying how much she is holding back from crying.

"Raphael, gather data about this quickly!"

"On it, master!"

Rimuru hugged his wife, a hand rubbing gently on her back. "Everything will be alright, my love. We'll be fine. Please don't stress so much about it and focus on our kids. Let me handle this."

"What? Rimuru, you already have a lot on your plate-"

"Hush now. Don't worry that pretty head of yours, my dear. We'll end and win this war, I promise you that. So just focus on our children, okay? And don't overthink. It's not good for Kenjie too as you are still breastfeeding."

He's got it right. Overthinking just stresses her a lot more and Kenjie's been always able to pick up on her mood. She knew that but she can't exacy push aside her duties as an empress.

"I just want to help, love."

"And you are helping plenty, baby. You and our children are giving me the mental forfitude I needed. I draw determination from you, guys."

Maevah didn't argue after hearing him pour out his sincere feelings. She nodded and looked at him.

"Okay. But promise me, tell me everything and don't keep a secret, yeah?"

Rimuru smiles, kissed his wife on the forehead then scooped her in his arms.

"Time to rest, my love. I don't want you deprived of sleep just because of this useless war."

"Honey-"

"Shhhh, go to sleep. Be a dear and listen to your husband," the slime had no choice but to use a little of his powers. Maevah's getting stubborn and he doesn't like seeing her overthinking everything. Soon, Maevah slipped into a peaceful slumber.
