Music filled the ballroom, filled with pairs of couples dancing the night away in a hypnotizing rhythm, bodies moving in tandem with one another, partners perfectly held in their lovers arms. Bodies flowed perfectly along, a gentle wave along the floor as they traversed the area, letting their music glide along their bodies.

Though there was a straggler, a nervous stray standing outside the main door, peering inside with wide, adoring eyes. She held no partner, so she couldn't join in, but just watching was enough. Her mind wondering what it'd be like to have a dance partner, being held in one's arms, just dancing away all the problems. Not a stutter nor misstep in their movements.

Just gliding together as one.

The drone watched with a longing fondness, memorizing each step and twist, each dance performed over the countless songs. Somewhere peaceful, some held a bit more of a peppy tune, seeming more joyful as they’d move around the ballroom, taps and thumps coming from their heels blending in with the music, some dances having the other dipping their partner and giving them a fantastical twirl, laughter and joy filling the ballroom. She could stay and watch for hours, but knew she couldn’t stay long. She didn’t belong in this room. With a new sting of acknowledgement she’d close the door, being extra sure not to make any sound in the worst case of disrupting the beauty, leaving to find something to better distract herself. She didn’t have anything else to do, tasks for the day having been minimal. Most are saved for after the dance, far after all the fun had ended.

Entering the room she saw Y/n, the male flinching from the sudden creak of his door, cursing under his breath as he scrambled away to hide something in his lap, shoving something back into his desk. “The h-hell are you doing?! Haven't you heard of knoc-” He paused, seeing it was just V in the doorway. “... Try and knock next time, yeah?” He grumbled, facing back to his desk. ‘Sorry, I'll keep that in mind.’ V whispered, gulping down the nerves as she walked forward, standing next to him, peering down into his lap where she saw a makeup brush?

“What's that for?” She couldn't help but accidentally ask aloud, the boy flinching from her sudden close proximity, grabbing the brush and shoving it into a desk. “Nothing of yo- gah, damnit!” A sting of pain crackled through his wrist, muscles screaming out as he dropped the brush, yanking his hand back and holding his oddly colored wrist. It looked much whiter than the rest of his arm and hand, a faint sprinkle of purple hidden underneath some thinner patches.

“Did something happen to your wr-” “No!” He yanked away his hand, hiding it under the desk out of view. “There's nothing wrong with it. You're just seeing things....” Y/n quickly excused, V flinching back from the sudden shouting, unused to this more stern tone. But V didn't exactly leave like the back of her mind was telling her, not wanting to further upset him and risk their friendship wavering. But another part of her knew Y/n was lying straight through his teeth, he wasn't the best of liars.

“H-How badly does it hurt?” Y/n stayed quiet, shifting his eyes away from V’s gaze, foot tapping against the floor, thumb scraping against his finger nail over and over, chipping away at it into a jagged mess. Refusing to vocalize his problems. After a minute V left, leaving his door open. Y/n didn’t move, only shifting his gaze back to where she was originally standing, the scraping against his nail increasing, thoughts rattling about his brain. Each insisting upon themselves, fighting with one another, the teen uncertain which course is the best action to follow.
