Water is wet
Die mad

The clacking of keys filled the empty pod, J staring blankly to the screen, lines of information and important documents to fill out reflecting off her visor, eyes looking dull and tired, expressionless. The work having become muscle memory at this point, not needing to put in her full effort. The silence was her most prominent friend at this time, N busy reaching his quota for the night, and V most likely not doing her job. With a tired sigh J leaned back in her chair, closing her digital eyes, letting her mind and body rest. Everything seemed too tight, stiff, her mind clouded with other worries, concerns, everything battling for dominance in her mind, herself just wondering, what. What is the most important thing to do right now?
What should be her top priority? What needs all her attention?
Work for the company, or finding a human employee?
Surely the choice should be obvious, work. It was his fault he got lost or left, not hers. But even then why couldn't she accept that.
She put herself as his superior to watch over him, not the company.
She took priority of his safety and comfort, but why?
Unable to quiet these thoughts she did one of the few things that could help when overworked by stress, and sat up typing in a pin to one of the drawers on the pod walls, and inside the drawer was a dark, royal purple handled hairbrush. Taking out her twin tails she let her hair drop down to her side, setting the bows down on the table, and using the comb began lightly dragging it through her long silver hair, repeating the motion over and over, switching from the left or right side, a sense of calmness taking her. It wasn't really a big dopamine hit, or crash of energy, but more so one of acceptance, a soothing wash, unbothered by that around the world. Just taking in the calmness of the here and now.
She doesn't know why brushing her hair brings a sense of security, protection of her stress, but something about it is just right. Or why she used a purple brush, it wasn't her favorite color, but it just fit best for some reason. Finally after some time J set the brush back into her drawer, closing it shut. Standing up J walked over to the mirror that was crudely taped to the wall, steps not groggy, but just slow, and putting her attention into the work as she tied up her hair into two twin tails once again. After she finished she sat back down, and went back to her boring, nothing worth work. Already missing the feeling from moments ago.
Her body felt empty, nothing wrong but nothing right, just drifting into a vastness, content with her place. Although it didn't always feel empty, something was missing. This void once held many things, she can't recall them, but misses them. How is it you can miss something you aren't aware of? But even then, does it matter? She doesn't have time to miss these things, that's not her task. While empty, this was the best course, it made her work easier, and that's what mattered. The work... Right?A noise broke through into her ears, echoing in her quiet home. The noise only seemed to continue, becoming clearer and clearer as the seconds went on, soon able to discern two separate voices. Eventually they became two loud, J's eyes beginning to flicker open. Seeing she was still in the pod J pushed herself up, looking down to see both her arms crossed over the console. "Tch, I told you we were being too loud, you woke her up V." N scolded with a huff, V groaning at his accusation.
"Oh please, she was gonna wake up eventually. And don't act like you're innocent! You were the one squealing about some ugly dog!" N gasped at her accusation, placing a hand over his chest. "What?! You told me the dog was cute!" "I lied so you'd shut up! It was ugly!" V quickly retorted, sitting up out of her chair. N didn't respond, unable to fully make out a sentence, stuck repeating the words "you", trying to keep himself from saying anything too crude.
