Hey look at that, new largest word count. We hope you all will enjoy this chapter.

Also off topic but I am somewhat upset as I wasn't able to view the live premiere of episode 8 cause work called me in early for some reason. But I am hoping it was a good end and either depressing or wholesome.

But anyways, enough rambling on my end, please enjoy.

Dinner that night was…. Tense to say the least.

Charles glaring daggers at two owners, Louisa side eyeing Lucy occasionally through the whole meal, James eating as if nothing was wrong, Lucy trying to ignore constant glare, more concerned of the two missing children. Having skipped out on dinner. Charles was also apparent of the absence seats. With a sigh he stood up, tossing his napkin onto the plate. “I'm done eating for tonight, be ready in the morning James.” He walked away, Lucy feeling rather awkward sitting there alone with the Elliots, a few thoughts plaguing her mind that made her whole body feel antsy. Having a few choice words to give the Elliots but chose to stay civil and not bring it up.

“Spit it out or forget whatever it is you're thinking.” James sighed, forking in another bite of food. “There's clearly something on your mind.” He continued, grabbing the napkin and patting it against his lips, removing any food residue. Lucy cleared her throat, a little shocked James could tell something was on her mind. "Well," She started, sitting up and setting down her utensils. "I wanted to talk about your parenting." 'Oh brother. Here we go.' Louisa groaned quietly, taking a sip of her wine.

Ignoring the comment Lucy continued on. "I'm not comfortable with how your treating the children. They're still kids, and while I know they can be a bit much, I don't appreciate the punishments you're giving them. It's causing more harm than anything else." She stated, hands in her lap, looking between James and Louisa. James was staring at her with a neutral expression. Louisa was sipping her wine and looked to be in deep thought.

James was quiet for a minute, the room dead silent, the only sounds were the soft ticks from the grandfather clock in the corner of the room. James leaned back in his chair, folding his hands together. "I must disagree. I believe the children need a firmer hand. I will not tolerate disrespect or misbehaving." He said, his voice firm and cold. "If they don't learn now, they won't learn later. That's what my father taught me, and I think I'm doing a good job."

Lucy shook her head, a hand reaching up to run through her hair. "But you're not teaching them. You're hurting them, and not in a way a parent should hurt their children. All you do is beat them down for not being perfect and wave them off when they do anything good cause it doesn't fit your expectations. You should be showing praise and rewarding it so they know you're proud of them and not disappointed. Your punishments are going to ruin the children if you don't change." She said, eyes hard as she stared down James.

“Well what's there to reward when it's simply common knowledge? Sounds to me as if you're the one unaware how to parent.” James chided back, awaiting her explanation.

Lucy was quiet for a moment, looking away to collect her thoughts. "Look." She began, looking back at the two owners. "I'm not saying you need to do everything, but you need to give some credit when its due. And you also need to treat the kids better. What you've been doing is just too much. All I'm asking is for you to ease up on the punishments. And give them a bit more of a reward. Doesn't need to be anything massive or grand, just something is better than nothing." She finished, watching the two Elliots. Louisa was sipping her wine. The air was tense again.

"I'll consider it." James hummed, standing up and bringing his plate into the kitchen, letting the womans word ring through his mind.

All the while that was going on Charles was storming through the halls, rubbing his eyes and cursing to himself, he felt so stupid! How could he not have noticed a damn chain in his own child's damn rooms?!
