________
"It is the mating season, these are bound to happen." Dosha exhales in the act of locking the confined area they were in. The pets out in the open that night will do them harm. A storm was coming. Probably.
Covering her sketch and placing them where they wouldn't be affected by the heavy rain, she closed the back door proceeding to the bathroom area, washing her face, hands and feet.
A look in the mirror, she notices the mild scratch on her neck; a disadvantage of keeping long nails, she loves her nails that way though, precautionary measures are sure to be taken next time.
The night was windy and cold, a perfect time to read her uncle's letter again. This was the uncountable time she's reading it, every line held its meaning, was it the 'how're you doing my angel?' Or the 'keep staying strong no matter what!' Or the 'I'll always love you!' Or the present he sent her! Her eyes went moist. She misses that man.
The perfumes are for you.
I'm sure the one I gave your King is almost out of stock.
Make do of this one, I know you love them.
I'll always love you, my princess. Were his final writing. A special letter was being prepared for him. "I love you too." She whispered. Her eyes went to the newborn kittens snuggling on their mother's sharp watch. The feline chose to birth in her chamber, five kittens; four their mother's fur and one totally different. She's already taken a liking to that one. It fitted her palm perfectly, if not that she knew Dosha had a good intention, the protective mother would've clawed her skin. She let her take the kitten.
"Newborns are so beautiful." Dosha muttered, smiling at the baby cat who darted a tongue out and pulled it back in, eyes tightly shut.
A sound at the door, she looked up at the intruder, gauging the stance and aura emitted. It fits well, so gracefully. He leaned by the door, watching her eyes on him and back to the cat. "Innocence is beautiful." Rashid voiced lowly, watching her actions. The signature smile creeped up as she placed the cat on her thighs, its mother trudged to her the very moment she did the act and held the kitten's neck, taking it back to its rightful place as if saying 'this wasn't how I gave you my child'.
They both got the meaning, breaking a laugh, she couldn't blame the mother, she acted on instinct but could blame the cause of it. "Guiltiness is both good and bad." She said to him, he was still leaning against the wall by the door.
He caught her nondirective reply, chuckling to himself, "I guess I interrupted a good session." He saw the papers on the table, knowing she was reading her letters.
"No you didn't." She waved her hand, slouching back on the chair.
"Are you going to rest now?" She shook her head in her answer. She looked at him, still wondering why he was standing by the wall all the while.
"Come to my room." Her eyes peeled open at his statement, watching him closely. Well, she needed anything but staying alone in that room in that particular night. She nodded, getting up, he finally walked into the room and grabbed a shawl, the weather was chilly and she was wearing a sleeveless clothe. He was also wearing a sleeveless shirt, wouldn't he get the cold also? "Am I suppose to forget my wife gets cold easily? I came here this way. Don't worry about me." He cleared her unvoiced questions. Normally he would. Typical of him.
"Thank you." She wrapped herself, walking in front as he closed the door. There was a flash of lightening which illuminated their path, the cold wind played with her exposed skin. She shuddered and entwined her arm with his. He was still warm. She calmed instantly. "The rain will be heavy tonight." A thunder followed her reply. There was zero intention in her going back to her room. Her mind constantly reminded her till they made it to their destination.
