Chapter 15: Rui

"Way to go Tanjiro." Bakugo snapped as he jumped out of the way. "You just had to piss the kid off, didn't you?!"

"Me?! You're the one antagonizing him!" Tanjiro shouted back as he shakingly clutched his sworn in anger as he stared back at the demon. 'What an intimidating aura. It feels like the air just became ten times heavier and thicker than before.'

"Hey you, what you said just now...I demand to hear it from you again." Rui's eerie voice began to shake with uncontrolled rage. "Come now, explain it to me."

"Sure I'd be happy to." Regardless of how frightened he was, Tanjiro wouldn't allow anyone human or demon to treat anyone in the manner he just witnessed. "Your bond is forged! Fake!"

"Really now? Just so you know...I'm not going to kill the both of you with a single blow." Rui extended the threads in his hands as his eyes locked on them. "Instead, I'll dissect you. Carve the both of you piece by piece by piece. However, if you take back what you said just now, your deaths will be merciful quick."

"I won't take it back!"

"Now look whose antagonizing who!" Bakugo shouted after landing on the nearby tree.

"I'm not!" Tanjiro shouted back, never removing his eyes from Ruis. "What I said was the truth and I won't take it back. Not on your life. Or the next one. You're the one who's mistaken! So, Try to get rid of us as much as you can! It will never stop it from being the truth!"

Regardless of the fact that he wasn't from this world, Bakugo could definitely feel what had Tanjiro shaking and clinging onto his sword too. This demon kid wasn't going to hold back, and neither could they. Any wrong move and they wouldn't make it out of this mountain alive.

Barely dodging the webs that shot out of the boys' fingers, both Tanjiro and Bakugo tried to ignore the various cuts on their face and arms as Rui continued to attack them relentlessly.

Rolling to the side Tanjiro shot back up. 'Good. That horrible stench is starting to fade, so now I can detect the scent of the threads! I can take him on now!'

'They're smarter than I gave them credit for.' Rui thought. 'They don't shrink back in fear. Not that that will matter now anyways.' Rui let his eyes drag over to Bakugo who stood a few feet behind him in the same condition as Tanjiro with his palms facing him. 'However, his power might be troublesome. At first, I thought him to be foolish to try and attack me without a weapon of some sort. But it seems I may be mistaken.' As Tanjiro began running towards him again Rui once again extended his threads. 'In that matter I'd just have to make sure to take them both down.'

"Water breathing, first form water surface slash!"

"What?" As soon as the sword tried to cut down Ruis webs, Tanjiro watched in pure horror as his sword broke right before his eyes as the threads began approaching his face.

"Watch out!"

Blasting himself in Tanjiro's direction Bakugo pushed them out of the way making the other boy fall harshly to the ground.

"Bakugo!" Wincing Tanjiro raised his head long enough to see him getting back on his feet. "Are you alright?!"

Painfully wincing he glanced down at his arm where blood was already seeping from his cut. "Fuckin great." Letting a small, wicked smile cross his face Bakugo eagerly awaited Ruis' next attack. "Just a damn scratch. I've had worse."

"Is that so?" Rui tilted his head, finding his temper rising. "I guess we'll have to change it then."

Getting back on his feet Tanjiro could see Rui using his threads on Bakugo as he continued to dodge them with ease, letting a small explosion stop any that would get dangerously close to him.
