Elijah POV
I sat up in the bed with my back against the headboard as I watched Layla rest peacefully. It had been three days since I brought her and Amir back home.
I was so grateful that me and my guys were there that night. We had stayed in New York for a couple weeks to keep staking out Kaine's place. You know to watch his movements and his security. We were trying to gather as much information as we could before we just went in there guns blazing. The night everything went down was the same night we decided to take Kaine out.
**FLASHBACK**
Muffled gunshots could be heard all over the floor as me and my guys shot all of Kaine's security.
After two weeks of scoping the place out we finally decided it was the right time to get Layla. I had flew some more guys out from ATL. There was about twenty of us now. I had my PI keep tabs on Kaine all day so we could know when he got home.
As soon as Kaine got inside Jackson gave us the go. Jackson had a friend in the building who let us in so we just had to take care of things once we got on the penthouse floor.
We had just about taken all of em out when I heard gunshots coming from inside the apartment. My heart dropped thinking about what could've possibly happened to Layla. Without a second thought I ran down the hall and tried to get the door open. I shot the handle off thinking I could get in that way, but that shit didn't work so I started kicking the door down. D and Six quickly ran over to me trying to get it open as well.
"Layla! Layla!" I frantically called once we finally got the door opened.
"In here!" she called. I ran over to the room where I heard her voice coming from. Immediately I saw her standing there holding Amir while she was covered in blood.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" I quickly rushed over to her checking to see if she and Amir were okay.
"I'm okay. It's not my blood." A sense of relief flooded my body when I realized they were okay.
**FLASHBACK OVER**
I was glad that I was there so I could make sure Layla and Amir were okay. A part of me wished I could have killed Kaine myself, but at the end of the day I'm glad he was dead. The nigga had it coming to him either way.
Noticing Amir stir in his sleep I quietly grabbed him from his bassinet which was by the bed and took him to the kitchen. It was about time for him to eat so I knew he was going to start getting fussy soon.
"What's up lil man? Can't sleep either?" I asked him as he babbled in baby talk back to me. I smiled to myself as I sat him on the counter while I warmed up his bottle.
Once his bottle was ready I took him over to the couch to feed him.
"You know I'm glad you and yo momma are here with me and Bella. You're safe now that Kaine is gone and I'm gonna make sure nobody ever hurts you or your mom ever again." I said as I held him while he drank from his bottle.
