She came back home, and straightaway went to their dining hall."Laxmi masi, coffee" she borderline screamed.
Soon the entire events of the night played in her mind. She felt guilty thinking about her own behavior. Her chest felt heavy when she thought of Sidharth and the look on his face when he saw her with Mahir.
But then she shook her head"Why should she feel guilty?" she thought. "She wasn’t in a relationship with Sidharth, and he didn’t have any claim on her" But despite her stubbornness her own behavior haunted her. She knew she had hurt him, even if she wasn’t ready to fully admit it. Her pride didn't let her acknowledge it yet she felt terrible for the madness all around her.
Then It struck her that she hadn’t just hurt Hin,she had crossed line with Sameera too. She couldn’t afford to make her upset at this point. She decided to send her a message.
"I am really sorry, Sameera. I didn’t mean to call you names. I feel horrible about what I said. Please, don’t be mad. I hope we are okay."
Her heart raced as she waited for a reply, She needed to make sure they were still on good terms.
A few minutes later, her phone buzzed with a message from Sameera.
"Relax, girl. No hard feelings. It’s all good. Take care of yourself."
"Thank God" she said when Laxmi came to herm
"Lai abhi coffee,Kahan gai thi aap?" Laxmi asked.
"Kahin nahin." she replied while calling him again,He didn't pick.
"Beta ek baat bolun?" She asked next
"Hmm" Shehnaaz replied.
"Beta, aap kal aise nashe main ghar aaye...Saini saab janenenge toh kya hoga?" Laxmi asked in a gentle but concerned tone.Shehnaaz said nothing.
"Get me the coffee,I am getting late" she replied, only five days were left for the fundraiser, she couldn't afford to have a broken heart too.
She soon finished coffee and went to take a shower. She felt numb when the water ran over her, "Everyone eventually leaves"she thought, but Sidharth... he was too quick. With that thought in her mind, she came out of the shower.
She forced herself to push everything aside and hurriedly got dressed, grabbed her bag, and headed out to the chawl, where preparations for the show were going on in full swing. The moment she arrived, she immersed herself in supervising the decor, checking the display setup, coordinating with vendors for food, and making sure the dance rehearsals were on schedule.
Though she felt that being busy will help but each passing hour, her mood worsened. The more she tried to avoid her thoughts, the harder they engulfed her. She kept telling herself that she wouldn't call him,But after every 30 minutes, she unlocked her phone, and pressing dial on his name but he didn't pick.
"Why isn't t he picking up?" She wanted to scream but instead, she plastered a smile on her face and tried to appear composed.
"Five days left. Just five more days" She can't mess things up this time, she told herself again and again."woh safe toh hoga na? Baat na kare but bas bata de ke theek hai!" Now this thought bothered her.
She finally couldn't stop herself from scrolling to Maya's number and calling her.
"Hello,Shehnaaz beta, how are you?" Maya's warm voice answered on the other end.
"Hi, aunty, I am doing fine, thank you how are you?" she asked out of courtesy.
"Aww.. I am doing fine too?" she replied.
