Shehnaaz walked back to her place in an dazed state, her mind replayed the conversation in the car,she was angry, upset, irritated, intrigued and what not. Laxmi sleepily opened the door, blinking at the bright hallway light.
"Dinner thik raha, khaana aapke friend ke taste ka tha na?" Laxmi mumbled, still half-asleep.
"Yeah, khaana thik tha,sab thik raha, aap so jao," Shehnaaz replied, slipping inside quietly.
Once in her room, she quickly changed into a night suit, choosing one that was modest, she didn't want to give him the wrong impression."Am I underdressed" she asked herself as she saw her reflection "Shaadi kar raha hai woh,ab kya uske liye Lehenga pehenke jaun, huh!" she contradicted her own thought.
Laxmi had already dozed off again, so Shehnaaz tiptoed out, grabbed the keys and sneaked out of the house.
When she reached his place and saw the time on her phone, she remembered his words-"15 minutes is enough to change"and realized she had done just that. "Wow... he said and i am here in exact 15 minutes like a desperate bitch?" she scolded herself.
Instead of ringing his doorbell, she decided to head to the adjacent flat, thankfully She had the key so she slipped inside, deciding to wait for another thirty minutes. She settled down on a couch but her mind refused to settle. "so,he is getting married, logically I shouldn't be bothered but seriously people's presence in our life is so short lived, what ever care concern he had for me will be over soon,no wife will allow her husband to have concerns for some other girl, waise acha hai, jitna jaldi woh kisi aur ke saath committed ho jaega utna acha hai... " she kept thinking, she wasn't ready to accept but her heart was bleeding thinking about him getting married, soon she felt little wetness at one corner of left eye but she didn't let that tear flow "people come ,people go but life goes on".
Meanwhile, Sidharth was pacing in his living room,he was glancing at the clock every few minutes. "Fifteen minutes? No way. If Shehnaaz shows up exactly on time, that would be too easy. Aur Shehnaaz Saini is anything but east" he thought. He liked that about her,her unpredictability, her sass. But he was getting restless every passing moment.8
"Did she change her mind, nahin ayegi kya?" he mused, He wasn't sure what to expect next and that was part of the thrill. Whatever was brewing between them, it was anything but ordinary, and he wouldn't have it any other way.at that exact time his phone rang and he glanced at the screen to see his Dadi's name flashing. He sighed and picked.
"Hello, Dadi... how many times have I called you?"he asked immediately as he picked up.
"Hello... Hello..."his Dadi said.
"Dadi... Hello... can you hear me?" he asked.
"Hello... Hello... Hello..." she repeated, louder this time.
"Dadi, I can hear you! Can you hear me?" he nearly shouted, pacing around the living room now.
"Haan... awaz nahin aa rahi" she said again.
"Hello? Dadi, yaar... kya problem hai, I can hear you clearly!" he said getting exasperated.
"Haan, toh chikh mat, itne dur se kahan sunai dega?" she snapped back.
"Dadi, phone isi liye invent hua tha, taake duniya ke kisi bhi kone se doosre kone tak connect kar sake,"he explained, like he was talking to a child.
"Haan toh main duniya mein thodi hoon! Bhul gaya meri jhoothi kasam khaya tha? Mar chuki Dadi... yeh Dadi ki aatma narak se bol rahi hai!" she declared, and Sidharth knew then and there that Dadi was in full-on dramatic mode today.
