Alora

My eyes opened slowly at the sound of a door opening. I squinted my eyes due to the lighting of the room, letting them adjust before I was able to look around.

I then realized that it was Arik that came in, immediately sitting up. "Arik! How are you?" I asked him as he neared me.

"I should be asking you that. And what are you doing sitting up? You should be resting" He asked before making me lay back down.

"I'm fine, Arik" I groaned out, him not looking convinced.

"What happened to you back there? Did that... guy do anything to you?" He then asked, lowering his voice at the end.

I looked at him in confusion before realizing who he was most likely talking about, "Oh, Diamanté? No he was the one who saved me. Antonio Ricci and I were trapped in the elevator" I explained, him humming in response.

From the look on his face, I knew that Arik was weary of Diamanté... not that I could blame him.

His demeanor soon changed as he looked at my thigh that was bandaged up, "I'm sorry for getting you tied up in all of this. I... I didn't know what else to do and-" He began.

"Arik, it's fine. I promise you that I'm alright" I reassured him.

"I'm sure the doctor told you, but I'm free to go anytime. If it meant making sure you're alright, I wouldn't mind bombing that building again even if it meant I'd be a goner" I added.

"Yeah I know- wait...you did what?!" He asked in disbelief.

"That's besides the point... the two of us are family. We've been through hell and back many times. So you should understand why I took it to such extreme lengths just to save you" I spoke out, him nodding his head after awhile.

I then watched as he kneeled down on the side of my bed, grabbing ahold of my hand. "I know, Alora... I'm just so frustrated with myself. Even after all this time, I wasn't able to fulfill my promise to you. I wasn't able to protect you at the end, it's always you who protects me" He admitted.

I couldn't help but smile as I noticed a small tear streaming down his face, "I see that you're still a crybaby" I teased, earning a look from him.

"It's my job to protect you as your older sister. But who knows... there's always next time. I can guarantee that there will be a day where I'll need you" I said, a small chuckle coming from him.

"Yeah, you're right"

The two of us then sat in silence for a while, thinking about everything that's occurred over the past month and a half. With Arik by my side, I couldn't help but be happy.

"You really do like him, don't you?" He then asked me, now sitting on the side of the bed.

"Yeah... I do" I replied, a small sigh coming from him. I then watched as he got up from the bed.

"I figured you did. Well then...I'll leave the two of you to talk things through" He smiled before placing a quick kiss on my temple, soon taking his leave.

It wasn't long before Diamanté walked into the room, shutting the door behind him.

"Alora! How are you feeling?" He asked as soon as he made his way towards me with a worried expression, grabbing ahold of my hand.

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw how serious he looked, finding it a bit weird for someone like him.

"I'm sorry for laughing, but can you blame me?" I replied when I saw him now looking confused.
