Warning: This chapter is longer than usual, it also contains a very gory scene as you get to read the first flashback of the war through Draco's eyes. It starts after the first break indication with: It was storming, one of those frequent summer storms. If you don't want to read it you can skip it, it ends with: Draco had never felt so horrified in his life before.

I think the next chapter will be a bit delayed due to my marriage upcoming Friday, happy reading!

'Don't worry mate,' said Theo as he exhaled the smoke through his nose. 'I'll pick her up in an hour or so, she'll be fine.'

They were at Draco's penthouse at the moment, he hadn't been there for a while, and he had taken out a bottle of firewhiskey to drown out his irritation. 'It doesn't sit right with me.' he said, circling the amber liquid in his tumbler that reminded him of her eyes.

'I dropped her off at the safe-house and we pretended to be a couple, er... nothing substantial.' He said, but his countenance shifted for a slight moment, and Draco noticed a guilty look washing over his face.

Draco widened his eyes and smacked his tumbler down. 'What did you do.' he said. It wasn't a question, it sounded more like a threat. If fucking Nott kissed her again he would lose it and Avada the bastard.

'Me? Nothing!' he said but the guilt was overpowering him and Draco saw him crumble.

Draco glared at him. 'Tell me now Nott!' he demanded.

'I might have.. well, I snogged her,' he said awkwardly. It was so soft that Draco could hardly distinguish the syllables, but he heard it alright . He stood up immediately, anger flared in his eyes as he aimed his wand at him.

'What the actual fuck Nott!'

'They wanted to hex me on the spot! It was nine against two!' continued Theo in his defence. 'Hermione, bless her, thankfully convinced them not to blast me into smithereens, but we had to make it look believable; as if she's really my girlfriend. This was the only way! It was not real! I just want to live, mate! '

'Too bad,' said Draco calmly. He strode towards Theo and pushed the tip of his wand painfully against his friend's chest. Theo had dropped his cigarette on the wooden polished floor, it rolled away with its tip still lit. He froze as Draco opened his mouth and started the deadly incantation.

'Ava-'

'Fuck, Draco stop!' shouted Theo in a panic as he knocked Draco's wand out of his hand, the green sliver of light that had started to seep out of the tip was quickly diminished, as it clattered on the floor next to the forgotten cigarette. 'I won't do it ever again, I fucking swear. Yes I think she's good-looking, but you know me, I'm a bloody tease! I just can't help myself! I won't seriously steal her away from you, you're my best mate! You know that! Besides, she doesn't like me that way anyway, we're just friends .' he rattled.

'You're playing with fire.' hissed Draco angrily. 'Normally I wouldn't give a flying fuck about women, you know we used to share, but she's different! You know this! She's mine! I've given you ample chances before, enough is enough.' he started to reach for his wand on the floor, but Theo kicked it further away into the living room.

Theo grabbed Draco's upper arms and turned him to face him. He looked rather serious for a guy that was almost murdered in Draco's penthouse. 'You've got every right to murder me,' he started.

Good, because I still want to, you prick!

'..and I know you're probably feeling anxious about her.' he continued seriously. Draco sighed irritably. 'But it really meant nothing to me, it was to keep her and myself safe. You asked me to keep her safe, and I did. Now that I think about it.. I bet she's livid.. Anywho, she's become my friend too, I'm quite fond of her. Don't worry, just calm down, I'll pick her up later and she can tell you all of it herself. It really meant nothing, it was just to fool that sorry bunch.'
