'You need to calm down mate.'

Blaise had been trying to calm him down for hours now. The problem was, he was far from calm. Theo had notified him earlier that Granger was safe, that she was staying at a safe house in Kent with the Potters. It annoyed him tremendously that he wasn't able to get to her, in order to bring her home where she belonged.

Home?

Theo had mentioned to Granger that her cat was being taken care of, and that Draco stayed at the cottage, which he also mentioned, was now connected to the floo network. Theo said she was extremely happy that Crankshook was getting looked after, but it only angered Draco. It seemed of grotesque importance that her orange demon was alright, but she didn't seem to have asked about him. Why couldn't she just make the smallest inquiry about his well being? Was she still angry that he fisticuffed Nott?

The prat still deserved that, sodding backstabber.

These last weeks had made him feel slightly hollow, as if a piece of his body was missing. He hadn't seen her for weeks, and everything around him seemed to have... waned from colour . As if the world wasn't as bright without her, not as exciting . Which was a really pathetic thought, if he was being honest . He guessed it was because he hadn't gotten any sex in weeks.

He could barely concentrate, nothing seemed to grasp his attention for more than two minutes lately. He was thankful Blaise was his business partner, because he hardly paid any attention to the construction of the new ward which was now in full operation.

Everything went by in a blur. Long dreary days morphed into lonely nights when his fears consumed him completely in his dreams. Fears of her strung up in a damp dungeon, her beautiful curls matted with sticky dark blood, painful bruises and cuts on her long legs.. The Dark Lord gutting her.. He knew that his thoughts were irrational and figments of his imagination, but he couldn't shake them, and it fed his fear and the longing to see her.

He should voluntarily check himself into the Janus Thickey Ward, he was going stark raving mad, completely bonkers.

Despite everything, when the worrying and the nightmares became too much , he'd find himself grabbing the firewhiskey. He'd drink a few glasses to drown out his distress. Just to get the sharp edges off so he could sleep again. Most of his fears he occluded right after, but each occlusion added to the hollowness inside his chest.

He knew where Granger was now, and she knew where he was. He wondered if she would sneak out tonight? Would she visit him?

Why would she visit you, you dolt? She only cares about her mangy cat.

The new refreshing intrusive thoughts he had of late were delicately crushing his confidence. She had only asked about her cat, yet he began to feel mentally unstable. He had been worried about her safety for weeks and he could barely function! He had never felt this kind of anxiousness in his life before, it was maddening.

Blaise said it was love. But if this was love, he didn't want any of it. This heart wrenching twisting feeling inside of him.. he'd trade anything for it. Couldn't they just go back to meaningless fucking? Life was much simpler that way, no obligation, no worrying about the other. He was in a vice, and he didn't like the amount of power she had over him like this. Worse was that he was the only one out of the two of them that apparently felt like that.

You're pathetic Draco.

Cold sweat washed over his back. 'I'm going home.' said Draco, touching his forehead with his thumb and index finger for a moment.
