Porco and you sit side by side on the rooftop, taking in the view of the starry sky above. The night air is cool, a gentle breeze playing with your hair. His arm is behind you, his fingers tracing idle patterns on your shoulder. You two sit in comfortable silence for a while, the proximity and the beauty of the night creating an intimate bubble. After a while, Porco breaks the silence,
„You know...", he begins, his gaze fixed on the constellations above. „I never really paid much attention to the stars before. But now..."
He turns his gaze to you, the intensity in his eyes evident even in the dim light. „Now, it feels different. More... meaningful, somehow."
You look at him, your eyes reflecting the soft light of the stars. You can see the change in his expression, the sincerity in his gaze.
You lean your head against his shoulder, „Maybe it's because we're sharing it together. Everything seem more...significant when you have someone to share it with." Porco lets out a soft chuckle, his grip on your shoulder tightening slightly.
„Cheesy." He comments, but there's no mockery in his tone. He turns his head, nuzzling his nose into your hair.
„Maybe you're right, though. Everything does feel more intense with you." A strange silence falls over the two of you!
You break it after a few minutes: „I don't know if this is appropriate and I might be ruining our mood, but do you want to tell me something about your brother?"
The blonde one is silent for a while, mulling over your question. It's a sensitive topic, one he's rarely broached. But there's something about the quiet intimacy of the night, and the fact that it's you asking, that makes him want to open up a little.
„It's...complicated.", he finally says, his voice low and a little rough around the edges. „What do you want to know?" You can't help but feel a pang of guilt for bringing up a potentially painful topic. But at the same time, you realize that this is a rare opportunity to get a glimpse into Porco's past, to understand him better.
„Whatever you're comfortable sharing. It doesn't have to be anything specific or deep. Just... tell me about him. What was he like?" You answer gently.
Porco lets out a small sigh, his gaze moving back to the stars. He seems lost in thought, the memories flooding back.
„He was...everything I wasn't.", he begins, his voice a soft murmur. „Where I was quick-tempered and impulsive, he was levelheaded and patient. He always knew how to calm a situation down, how to keep me in check." A small, almost nostalgic smile tugs at the corners of his mouth. „He was also the responsible one, the one who took care of everyone. Made sure we had what we needed, that we were safe."
He pauses, his expression growing a bit darker. „He was the good one. The better one." You listen to Porco silently, your heart aching for him. You can see the pain and longing in his eyes, the regret at what could have been.
You reach over and take his hand in yours, giving it a gentle, reassuring squeeze. Porco looks at your intertwined hands, the gesture giving him a small sense of comfort. He squeezes your hand back, his gaze returning to the stars.
„I...miss him. But...he's not coming back." Your heart ach even more at his words, the pain in his voice obvious. You move closer to him, resting your head against his shoulder.
„I'm sorry." You murmur. You know there's nothing you can say to ease his pain, but you want him to know you're here for him. Porco tenses slightly as you move closer, but then relaxes, his body seemingly seeking your warmth and comfort.
„It's not your fault." He wraps an arm around your shoulders and pulling you closer. "Nothing we can do about it now."
He looks back up at the stars, the silence between you less tense and more contemplative.
„Would he have liked me?"
„He would've. Marcel would've seen how strong and caring you are. How you never give up on people, even when they're being idiots." His tone lightens a bit, a hint of amusement in it. „He would've also seen how you're too hardheaded for your own good, though.", he teases, lightly nudging you with his shoulder.
You pretend to be offended, giving him a playful shove back. „Hey, I prefer the term 'determined', just like you, thank you very much." You retort, poking his side. Porco laughs, the sound low and gruff. „Right, right, 'determined'. Definitely not stubborn at all."
He grabs your hand, stopping the poking. He intertwines your fingers again, his grip firm.
„So..., he would have approved us?"
