Chapter 13

Korra stayed outside alone in the couch. She continued to drink her beer. She was deep in her thoughts. Her being drunk made her thoughts go everywhere even more.

"Hey" she heard someone speak to her. She looked over finding Asami "can I sit with you?"

"Where's your boyfriend?" Korra asked taking a sip of her beer as she looked away

"He's in line for the bathroom" Asami said and joined Korra on the couch. "Can I ask, why did you lie?"

Korra looked at the girl confused "lie about what?"

"I know Mako didn't get 1st place on the kissing challenge" Asami said

"I didn't lie"

"Please Korra, Mako was surprised by what you said"

"Well, I just didn't want him to feel like shit if you thought that he was a terrible kisser" Korra said.

Korra looked away. They were quiet for a moment. Korra was getting frustrated by the second knowing how Asami lied to her. She felt her leg starting to bounce with anxiety as she was trapped in her thoughts.

A hand on placed on her thigh to calm her "Can we talk?" Asami asked

"About what? There's nothing to talk about" Korra said

"I want to explain"

"You don't have to explain yourself to me, I'm not your girlfriend" Korra said getting up seeing Kai standing there

"Am I interrupting something?" Kai asked

"Oh um" Korra looked at Asami and back at Kai "no, we were just..." Korra was trying to think of an excuse "talking about work" Korra put hands in her pockets I don't have to lie to him, but I'm not sure how Asami would feel if he knew

"Oh sorry" Kai cleared his throat "I uh, I actually wanted to talk to you"

"I'll leave you two alone, I'm going to go look for Mako" Asami left

"So, what's up?" Korra asked Kai

"About today, thank you, I know you usually go see your parents Sundays, I was wondering if next week I can come with you, so I can apologize and excuse your absence" Kai asked shyly

Korra's heart warmed. She was happy to have a friend like Kai "of course you can" she smiled at the boy

The party lasted another hour before they sang happy birthday to Kai. After he cut the cake and passed it out, the party continued but some people left. everyone took a brake and sat on the living room couch. Asami couldn't help but stare at Korra, finding a hickey on her lower neck trying to hide under Korra's sweater

Two girls, who were Kai's coworkers were leaving "bye guys, happy birthday again" the blonde girl said to Kai "Bye Korra~" the girls said in unison

"Bye ladies" Korra was cheeky

"Leave some girls for the rest of the guys" Kai joked only to earn a elbow to the arm by Jinora

"Not my fault" Korra put her hands up with a laugh

"You beg for a woman's attention" Iroh said with an eye roll

"Please, they give it to me" Korra scoffed

"Yeah, all Korra has to do is give a side grin and she's locked in" Bolin said

"She can't be that good" Mako said

"She got 27 numbers in 3 minutes" Kai crossed his arms
