No Strings Attached

Chapter 14

-4 months ago-

Korra was on her way back home from the military. She took a taxi to Bolin's apartment. When she arrived she buzzed the door.

"Who is this?" A man said a bit grumpy on the other side of the speaker. She didn't recognize the voice

"I'm looking for Bolin" Korra said confused

"There's no Bolin here" he said

"Oh, alright, thanks" Korra walked away

She saw her car parked down the block. She decided she was going to drive to Mako's place, hoping to find Bolin there. She tried calling him, but it said his line was disconnected. It was making her worry. She got to her car and pulled out her keys to open. She took a seat on the driver side and slammed her door

"Ahh!"

"Ahh!!!" Korra panicked at the scream "BOLIN?!" She found him in the back seat with a blanket "what the fuck are you doing?!"

"Korra?..." he squinted his eyes "Korra!" He smiled. He hugged Korra the best he could from the back seat. "You have no idea how much I missed you"

"Woah, woah, woah, back it up" she pushed the boy "you smell like you haven't showered in a week"

"Most likely" he said "last time I showered was when I visited Kai" he smiled nervously

Korra looked around in her car seeing clothes folded up on the passenger seat, clothes thrown on the floor of the passenger seat, pillows and blankets in the back and take out bags of food "Bolin... have you been living in my car?"

"Well, uh, yeah... I'm out of a job and I got evicted"

"Does your brother know?"

"No, please please please don't tell him" Bolin begged

Korra didn't know what to say or feel. Her heart ached for her best friend. She sighed. "Alright, I'll get us a motel for tonight" she said and they left.

As they drove, Korra learned how Bolin was struggling on getting gigs. How he kept showing up to audition and nothing worked out. He lost his last job for calling off too many days for trying to do the auditions. And how it's been hard for him to find anything now.

Korra got a motel for them to stay at for the mean time. As soon as they walked in, Korra sent Bolin to the shower.

She sat on the bed and turned on the TV. Moments later, Bolin joined Korra on the bed only for the silence to be met with Bolin's growling stomach.

Bolin tried to act normal. Korra waited a minute before she spoke "I'm kinda hungry from me traveling, can you pick us up a pizza?" She asked handing the boy cash and her car keys

"Yeah, I can do that" he smiled taking the items and left.

Once she was alone. It hit her. Seeing her best friend trying to survive here alone, finding him living in her car and no body knew, not even his older brother. She felt sick to her stomach. She had to fight back tears for him. She couldn't leave his side till she knew he was ok. So opened her laptop and looked for available apartments.

Moments later Bolin came back with the pizza and joined Korra on the bed. "So, how long are you here for?" Bolin asked

"I was thinking about staying actually" Korra said

"Wait really?!" He seemed excited

"Yea, I kinda miss being around you and the love birds" she meant Kai and Jinora
