I rushed down the hallway, lost in thought. Upcoming exams, college applications, and my part-time job swirled in my mind. I didn't notice the sea of students parting until I collided with a solid wall of muscle.
"Ow!" I exclaimed, stumbling backward.
Strong hands grasped my arms, steadying me.
"Watch where you're going, clumsy!" a deep voice teased.
My gaze met piercing blue eyes, framed by chiseled features and messy blond hair. Jamie Reed, the notorious bad boy and star quarterback, smiled mischievously at me.
My heart raced, not just from the impact.
"Sorry," I muttered, trying to break free.
Jamie's grip lingered, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
"No harm done, sweetheart. You okay?"
His term of endearment made me bristle.
"I'm fine. Thanks."
Releasing me, Jamie chuckled and handed over the books I'd dropped.
"Alex Thompson, right?"
I nodded, surprised he knew my name.
"Be more careful, Alex."
With a wink, Jamie sauntered off, leaving me stunned and bewildered.
