I spotted Jamie in the hallway, chatting with friends.
"Hey," I said, approaching him.
Jamie smiled.
"Hey."
I hesitated, unsure how to bring up Tiffany's warning.
"Can we talk?" I asked.
Jamie nodded.
"Sure."
We stepped aside, away from the crowd.
"Tiffany warned me to stay away from you," I said.
Jamie's expression darkened.
"What?"
I nodded.
"She said you're hers."
Jamie snorted.
"That's ridiculous."
He took my hand.
"Alex, you're my friend.
Tiffany has no right to dictate our relationship."
I felt a flutter at his touch.
"Thanks, Jamie."
Jamie's eyes locked onto mine.
"Besides, I'm interested in someone else."
My heart skipped a beat.
"Who?" I asked, trying to sound casual.
Jamie's smile hinted at a secret.
"You'll find out soon enough."
