_Exam Pressure_

Days blurred together.

Studying consumed my life.

Jamie understood, but I could sense his frustration.

"Baby, I miss you," Jamie said over the phone.

"I miss you too," I replied, scanning notes.

"I feel like I haven't seen you in ages," Jamie added.

"I know, I'm sorry," I said.

"Exams soon, right?" Jamie asked.

"Next week," I replied.

"I'll give you space," Jamie promised.

But I knew he was hurting.

I was too.

Longing to spend time with Jamie.

To laugh and love together.

But exams loomed.

I couldn't afford distractions.

"Jamie, I need to focus," I said gently.

"Okay," Jamie replied.

Silence.

My heart ached.

Tired eyes scanned pages.

Information swirled in my head.

But Jamie's smile lingered.

I pushed on.

Stress consumed me.

Jamie's understanding began to wear thin.

"Baby, how's studying going?" Jamie asked.

"It's going," I replied curtly.

Jamie sensed my frustration.

"Alex, what's wrong?" Jamie asked.

"Everything," I snapped.

Jamie fell silent.

I regretted my tone.

"Jamie, I'm sorry," I said softly.

"It's okay," Jamie replied.

But tension lingered.

Conversations became stilted.

Jamie's jokes fell flat.

My irritability grew.

One evening, Jamie surprised me with dinner.

I picked at my food.

"Alex, talk to me," Jamie said.

"I'm just tired," I replied.

"Tired of me?" Jamie asked.

My heart sank.

"No," I said firmly.

But Jamie's eyes betrayed doubt.
