_A Familiar Chill_

Days turned into weeks.

Jamie's distance became a habit.

We coexisted, but didn't connect.

Meals were silent.

Conversations scarce.

I missed Jamie's laughter.

Missed our late-night talks.

My heart longed for reconciliation.

But Jamie's walls remained up.

One evening, I found Jamie watching TV.

Alone.

I sat beside Jamie.

No reaction.

"Jamie?" I whispered.

"Hmm?" Jamie replied, eyes fixed on the screen.

"Can we talk?" I asked.

Jamie shrugged.

"About what?" Jamie said indifferently.

My heart sank

"About us," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

Jamie's gaze didn't waver from the TV.

"What about us?" Jamie asked, tone flat.

I took a deep breath.

"Jamie, I miss you," I said, emotion cracking my voice.

Jamie's expression remained impassive.

"Miss what, exactly?" Jamie asked.

I felt a sting from Jamie's indifference.

"Miss our connection, our laughter," I replied.

"Miss us."

Jamie's silence was deafening.

Suddenly, Jamie stood up.

"I'm tired," Jamie said.

And walked away.

Leaving me shattered.

Unspoken pain hung in the air.

Was our love beyond repair?
