_A Comfortable Silence_

We walked side by side, the evening air filled with a comfortable silence.

Jamie occasionally glanced at me, his expression thoughtful.

I sensed no pressure, no expectations.

Just being together felt nice.

As we turned a corner, Jamie spoke up:

"Alex, can I ask you something?"

"Sure," I replied.

"What made you hesitant to go out with me?"

He paused.

"I'm trying to change."

His sincerity touched me.

"I think you are," I said.

Jamie smiled.

"Thanks for believing in me."

We continued walking, hand brushing against hand.

Neither of us pulled away.
