Chapter 29

MINJI'S loud laugh was heard by almost the whole neighborhood. Hyein sat there with a concerned expression, as she watched Minji and her girlfriend slap their knees from teasing Danielle.

"Be careful," Hanni said through wheezes and almost collapsed on the couch, wiping her tears from so much laughter.

Danielle was beet red from so much teasing, touching her lips every once in a while, her eyes becoming dazed and unfocused after remembering the soft kiss she shared with Haerin. It was both magical and comical, how she decided to make the most romantic move at a wrong moment. She could've done this more cutely, but it all just poured down the drain—but still, the feline seemed to enjoy it, plus it was so obvious that she liked Danielle back, so everything was fine for now.

Their main priority right now was helping the feline
anyway, so the four friends contacted Eunchae and drove out of Minji and Haerin's apartment in a hurry. It was kind of scary—how fast everything was shifting in their life and going a bit downhill for a second, then uphill—it felt like a rollercoaster, really. And not the good one.

Danielle had her share of rollercoasters in the past—and none of them were very pleasurable. Mostly—the fact that she was the brightest and nicest person, but didn't get the same energy back from the people all around her. She was a very hardworking student, tried her best to achieve the highest roads and make her parents, Hanni and others proud of her, but her positive nature could only do so much. All she got back was negative feedback, unethical words and unnecessary remarks that always criticized her way of thinking. Danielle was a smart, but soft girl. You could say she was more of a lover than a fighter. She always saw good in bad and loved the theories of Yin and Yang. She loved carrots and koalas, deep talks, cute people—one of the reasons why her eyes got stuck on a certain girl—and simple things like the stars and the moon.

Romantic people were rate these days, so when Hanni got a hold of her newly made friend's personality, it was very refreshing to have someone so different from a boring crowd. They hit it off right away. The best part was that they were both raised in Australia and bonded over their shared experienced more.

One day, Danielle accidentally bumped into someone and blushed because of the embarrassing situation, mostly because the person was cool and had a skateboard! But, when she looked up, she could see nothing but a pair of cat-eyes staring at her, lovestruck. The second she felt something in her heart, she couldn't feel it for anyone else but her. Former classmate and a shy "nerd"—Kang Haerin. Kim Minji's—Hanni's crush—friend. Daniele laughed at the absurdity of it—two best friends liking two best friends. But, at first, Danielle didn't want to admit her interest in the cutie. As the time went on, however, she couldn't help but be more enamored. Mostly, after they all started hanging out together and she was so mysterious—quiet and shy, it all made Danielle more interested in the cat-like girl.

So, after realizing—very easily—that her crush was Spider-Kid, she decided to confront her about it, but it went in vain when she saw the feline almost dying on the street. All she could do was hold in her arms and Haerin cried so much, that the pretty brunette girl thought she would have no water left in her body. It concerned her in a very deep level, since this was the first time the feline showed a vulnerable emotion. And it was all it took for Danielle to grab the taller and cradle her through the turmoil.

However, after all this, Danielle was positive that everything would work out in the end. She was the sunflower of the group, so her good aura and dazzling smile made everyone at ease and more confident about tasks at hand. The brunette, however, was very, very concerned about her cute little cat. Well, not so little anymore, since she's towering over her basically. But, still.
