"For fuck sake yes. I told you last night too, didn't I?" I am visiting Cal during my free period. I thought I'll go and find Lily, the entire day has been a headache without her but my brother has to be a pain in the ass.
We talked last night. I told him about the deal and what went with the agent yet he for some reason it isn't enough. He keeps asking me if the beach house is really sold or not and I keep telling him that it is. The beach house isn't ours anymore. The deal is done. The offer was made. The agent accepted. Why can't he accept?
"You shouldn't have made an offer if you weren't sure about selling the house," I say, twisting myself on his spiral chair in the office.
"I wanted to sell the house,"
"Then why do you keep asking me about it? I already gave you a brief about the meeting. Talk to the agent if you have more concerns," Cal sighs and leans back in his chair. "What is the problem, Cal? Why can't you let go?"
"I am just thinking if I did the right thing or not," he replies honestly. "I thought it'll help but I am more agitated now,"
"You won't tell me if I ask, would you?" When he stares at me blankly, I get my answer. I pat my knee and get up. "Talk to Anthony if you're so vary. He knows you more than me,"
I don't wait for his response as I head to the door and leave. The door shuts behind me and I force myself to swallow the knot in my throat before marching out of the administration building.
It hurts that my own brother doesn't trust me enough to share his problems. Maybe I am the youngest but I am not stupid. I am turning nineteen in a few months. Not that it'll change anything, I'll still be a kid in their eyes who has no sense of maturity.
But sometimes I wish I could just be a little bit closer to them in age, maybe then we could've been close.
When I reach the campus, I head to the cafeteria since the break is still on and took my usual seat. Ryan and the others are already there talking and laughing. When I sit down, they don't stop their conversation but they do acknowledge me with a nod and a few smiles.
"Brother trouble?" Ryan asks from beside me.
I roll my eyes and snatch his unopened juice box, "What else would it be?"
"Lily,"
"Nope. Haven't seen her since I dropped her to class in the morning,"
"Aww poor, Romeo," Ryan pats my shoulder and I swat his arms away earning a chuckle from him. "You wanna smoke?"
"Nope. Lily won't kiss me if I do,"
"And we're assuming here you can't live without her kiss, right?" I glare at him. He looks away with a stupid smile and tips his chin toward the second door of the cafeteria. "Don't pout Romeo. Your Juliet heard your call for the kiss,"
I lift my head, my mood immediately getting better when I see her walk towards me with a smile. I knock Ryan with my elbow and ask him to shift so Lily can sit with me. The table is big enough for two extra people.
"Hey you," she says curving her arms around my neck while I wrap my around her waist. The entire cafeteria goes silent. I had to give them all a death stare before I resume greeting my girlfriend.
"Hi," I pull her on my seat and smile at Sabina across the table, "Hey Sabina,"
"Hey Lucas," she mumbles. "I am gonna go get us some food, Lily,"
"She okay?" I ask
Lily exhales heavily and looks at the table, "It's a long story,"
"I have time," I say kissing her temple.
