I am in a good fucking mood today. It's been quite a long time since I had been this free and happy. Not only am I smiling but the weird glances my brother is directing at me isn't making me angry. Instead its him who looks troubled seeing me grinning like a lunatic.
"Is there a reason why your being so weird?" Cal asks, there's no authority in his tone right, just mere elder brother curiosity.
I shake my head, "No clue what your talking about. I am happy,"
"Yes I can see. You've been smiling like a dork for the past ten minutes in my office,"
I am still showing him my dorky smile. Something is really wrong with my jaw muscles today. "Yeah so?"
"It's giving a bad vibe. Did you do something stupid?" When I roll my eyes and remain silent, he gets up from his seat and rounds the desk until he is standing by my side. "What the fuck did you do now?"
"Woah! Nothing. Calm down,"
"Lucas," he warns and I don't know what to tell him.
Obviously, I won't tell him about Lily and how kissing her cheek has made my lips so ticklish that I am craving to kiss her again. Or that, my usual grumpy morning ride to school finally found some solace in the way of Lily and her witty comebacks. For once it was good to not hear Ryan's stupid fart jokes.
Irritating Lily and trying to know her had been fun. The result wasn't good and she is as tight lipped about herself as a politician is to general public but no worries, I know how to coax her into telling me things about herself. Sooner or later, her defense walls will crumble and my presence will wear her out. She will have no option but to confide in me.
I'll make sure of that but for now I have to deal with my brother who is being too personal for my own good.
"Listen big brother," I tip my chin toward his chair gesturing him to go back to his seat. He does but now I am met with his scowling face that looks more distrustful than before. Amazing. "I know you think I was born to create trouble. Wherever I go, something ought to happen but I promise you, I did no such thing in the past twenty four hours,"
"There be a better explanation then for you to be acting like a wanker. You don't smile...at least not in front of me or at my office whenever I call you. Your usual asshole quality is missing and I want to know why,"
"Did you just call your younger brother an asshole?"
"You are an asshole,"
I lift a brow, "You're trying to make me mad,"
He gives me a nonchalant shoulder shrug and leans in, "Tell me why were you late to school today?"
"I already told you that,"
"Empty gas tank isn't the answer. Anthony took your car two days ago for some work and he happened to fill your tank. The receipt is still with me if you want to see," Cal narrows his eyes, "Fine, don't tell me but I am aware you asked me for two late slips."
"Again, I told you it was for Ryan,"
"Ryan Fletcher yes," he nods, "Your best friend, I am aware. If you were with him then tell me why are you asking for the class schedule of a student from class Senior B,"
My smile withers. "What?"
"Don't even play stupid. Valerie told me,"
Bloody hell. That old woman is too loyal to my brother.
"Lucas," My brother calls me. His tone has changed and I automatically get into a defensive position. "Is it me or are you targeting Miss. Goldberg from Class B for your entertainment?"
