We landed in London at night and Lucas's driver drove us all home. I was last which meant an extra few minutes with him. When we reached my place, Lucas came out of the car with me. We hugged each other while his driver took my bags out.
"Hope you had a nice time," he mumbles in my hair.
"The best," I don't want to let him go but we both are tired as hell and I am pretty sure my mom is spying on us from the window. "Be safe on your way back,"
"Good night,"
He didn't leave until he saw me go inside the house and like I predicted Mom was near the window in the dark with her arms crossed and brow dipped. I drag my suitcase to the living room and drop on the couch.
Mom comes to me with a glass of water then takes a seat at the coffee table in front. Her night robe was tied around her waist, fluffy pink slippers that slipped from her one feet when she crossed her leg, trying to appear intimidating but the action made it funny. I chuckled and drank the water.
"Why aren't you in bed Mom? It's way past your bedtime,"
"How can I sleep when I knew you were coming today?" She sits beside me on the couch. "How was your trip?"
"Really good. Sabina and I got new nail colors," I showed mom my manicured nails and told her a few more things about the trip before she interrupted me and asked about the elephant in the room. "What about him?" I ask softly.
"Is he the guy who drove you home couple weeks ago?"
"No, that's not him. He was a friend. Lucas isn't my friend,"
"Ah so the boy name is Lucas," I blush thinking about our time at the beach house. God, I can't wait to be in bedroom and dream about him. "Is he someone from your school?"
I nod. Mom won't like if she hears Lucas's family owns the school. She's always been against any relationship I've been in including the one with Andrew. She warned me not to get close to him but I didn't listen but how do I tell her Lucas is different. Yes, he and I come from two different worlds and there might not be a future for us but I don't want to think about something that hasn't even happened.
I am happy and if my present with Lucas makes me happy then I want to be a little selfish before our times run out.
"Is he good to you?"
"Yes,"
"Does he respect you?"
"Yes,"
"Is he handsome?" Mom asks and I blush again. "How long have you two been together?"
"Two months but I didn't say yes until two weeks ago,"
She palms my cheek and takes a deep breath, "All right sweetie. Go to bed. You must be tired,"
I went to my bedroom without my suitcase and showered. Then I passed out as soon as I hit the bed and slept till noon the next day. Mom didn't woke me because it was Sunday and I was tired. Around early evening when the sun was about to set did I finally woke and freshen up before heading to the kitchen. Mom has made fish and chips, my favorite. I spent rest of the day with her, watching movies and telling her all about my trip.
I got one message from Lucas asking if I am as dead as him and I said pretty much and how good it felt that we had a rest day before our school tomorrow. The unknown number didn't call me again and I didn't try to ponder about his whereabouts. Whoever he was, he must've realized he called a wrong number and stopped. Nonetheless, it wasn't my problem anymore so I focused on setting my bag up for school and taking care of my homework. I already did half before going on the trip and some were left that I completed by late night.
