"Tell her to leave," I whisper in Lily's ears. After Sabina returned with their order, I grabbed an extra chair from one of the empty tables and sat next to Lily. I've been trying to get some alone time with her but her clingy friend isn't leaving.
Lily shoved an elbow at my stomach, "You leave,"
"Not happening,"
"There you go then," she fake smiles at me then turns to her friend who is busy talking about a nerd crush I have no interest in listening. What I do have interest on is my girlfriend.
"What do you think?" Sabina asks. I have no clue what the context is so I focus on watching Lily.
"It's not bad. If Jackson has a sweet tooth then he would like-" Lily takes a deep breath as I discreetly put my hand on her thigh. Hmm, soft milky skin. I let the tip of my fingers graze her skirt hem and resist a smirk when I see a trail of goosebumps.
I shift on my seat and lean sideways on the table to her, "You still don't want her to leave?"
"Lucas," she warns on grated teeth.
"Yes,"
"Take your hand off of me,"
"Tell her to leave,"
"If you don't want me to break your hand then take them off,"
"At least that way you would touch me willingly," I swear I see smoke coming out of her ear. I chuckle close-mouthed,
"Lucas," she warns again and this time I tighten my grip on her thigh showing her how fucking stubborn I am. I see her throat work a swallow and jaw that is clenching and unclenching. Huh, she's angry and very expressive when it comes to me.
I can watch her all day but I really do want to spend some alone time with her. I want to talk to her, I want to know her, fulfill my curiosity and just be present with her instead of inside my head finding reasons on why I am gravitating towards her.
"Lily, I am not kidding. Tell her to leave or I will do something embarrassing,"
"Lucas, why are you doing this?" She turns to me.
"Because I want to spend time with you," I don't break her eye contact. "Alone. What about this can you not understand?"
The little scowl she had between her brows flattens and she takes a deep breath. Serenity and disbelief washes her with a strange expression. Her pupils dilate an inch and her throat moves up and down, probably trying to see if I'm serious or is it another one of my pranks but if only she could know, I am just as confused as her.
"Fine," she whispers a second later and then faces her friend who in the meantime has finished her muffin and has crumbs on the corner of her mouth.
"Sab," Lily says offering her a tissue and I finally let out a breath and turn toward them. "Don't be mad for what I'm about to say, please,"
"Okaaay" Sabina frowns then interrupts before Lily could speak again, "Oh no. It's about this place isn't it? You didn't like it. Bloody hell, I thought this will work. Now I've to look for another-"
"No babe," Lily interrupts. "It's not about this place,"
Babe. Really? She never calls me babe, her own fucking boyfriend and Sabina is her babe. BABE!!!!!!! I want to be her babe too.
I nudge Lily with my elbow again under the table, "Why don't you ever call me that affectionately?"
"Because we're not close,"
"We can if you want. Let's try,"
"Nope,"
"Why? It'll be fun. I can you be your own personalized walking nickname test body,"
