"I'm here, I'm here," Sabina says as she frantically sits on the chair opposite me. Her hair is wild because she came running here, there's sweat on her hairline and a breaths are rushed.
I pass my untouched glass of water towards her and cross my legs under the table. We were at a coffee shop with an outdoor seating and extended roof that works like a blessing during the hot summer days.
Even though I am wearing a yellow tank top and white skirt, the moody London weather is doing nothing but irritate me. It was raining in the morning. I thought I had to go with jeans today but then the weather changed and its scorching now.
Sabina and I were supposed to meet each other at my place but she wanted to try this new coffee place before she bring Jackson here for their date. Their relationship isn't official but everyone knows they're an item.
"I am sorry. I didn't realize ditching subway for once would be a bad idea," she says and drinks the water. "This sudden motivation to walk would ruin me one day. Anyway, thanks for agreeing to change the meeting place,"
"I didn't have any option. You threatened me, remember?"
She reach for my hand and slightly pats, "Oh please you and I both know I was bluffing."
"Don't bluff with Lucas's name. That asshole is a headache that's refusing to leave me,"
"He is not that bad. I mean he did stood for you in front of Gloria and even took the slap that was for you,"
"That is one side of the story. He didn't stood up for me, he stood for his girlfriend,"
"Oh yes that's right. The girlfriend. Remind me who that is again?"
"Shut up, Sab," I shake my head.
She chuckles, "Fine. Did you order anything?"
"No. I was thinking how to murder my boyfriend. It sucks that the only thing I can come up with is strangulation,"
"Or you could push him down the stairs, drag his unconscious body to the doctor's room at the back of the building and then inject him with paralysis medication for life,"
I stare at her.
"What? You asked," She shrugs her shoulder, "I am just entertaining your murder plot,"
"Paralysis isn't murder. Plus, what you said was diabolical. Jesus, how do you come up with something like that?"
"Lots and lots of crime shows does that to you and certainly your crush who is a huge fan of Criminal Minds. He shares some interesting cases with me during our free period," A blush spreads on her cheeks at the mention of his name. How cute. "Speaking of him, do you think this cafe would work well for first date?"
I look around the ambiance of the place, the casual outdoor setting and for a second I could picture myself with Lucas but then the thought was so absurd I resisted gagging and instead focused on answering my best friend. "The place looks good. It's chic but we should probably do a taste test of the menu. Wouldn't want you to look bad for recommending a place that serves shit food,"
While Sabina goes through the menu, I excuse myself for bathroom. To be honest, I need a moment to gather myself. Ever since my trip with Lucas to the nurse's station yesterday, I've been feeling weird and unhealthily angry.
I don't know what happened at the end or how his mood shifted from playful to naughty and then a dick. A huge dick that it left me confused. If only I could punch him once, just once then I'll feel better.
He has no right to talk to me in that way. He was rude and disrespectful. "Get off my lap" I mimic his tone in rat's voice out of spite. "Like I wanted to sit in the first place. Asshole,"
