All that glitters isn't gold -Inanimate Insanity AU-

-A breakthrough, at least for now-

It was storming heavily outside, thunder accompanied by lighting, all of it illuminating the sky.. at least, Fan presumed it was.. as currently he and Test Tube were huddled down in their lab. Both of which crowding around their individual computers, collaborating together..

They made slight progress on their shared endeavours, however they recently hit a road block.. a firewall that blocked them from further progress.. Test Tube had a very.. unethical idea to get past it.. Fan personally didn't want to go that far.. plus- if they did.. it would alert someone up at Meeple that hackers were trying to get into the archives..

Then Test Tube suggested just breaking into Meeple, which Fan turned down again.. that's another bad idea, that'll surely end up with one or both of them in jail.. thus they were stuck just.. here.. figuring this all out.. each attempt they made felt like another step in the wrong direction. Fan felt like they were going no where with this, they needed a new tactic.. nothing about this was working..

But Test Tube would always respond quickly to his concerns.. stating that the archives aren't invincible, that they will have a weak spot in their defences.. Fan sighed, thinking...

The two of them had been working in silence for hours, as the storm above raged on.. thunder banged, lighting crashed, the wind whistled violently as rain water relentlessly hammered into the moist and soggy ground above.. Fan stared at the computer's screen, the brightest straining his eyes.. his eyes ached, Fan knew he had been sitting hunched back over the screen for far too long.. he knew he needed to step back and take a breather.. yet- the adrenaline and motivation to keep going kept Fan glued to his seat..

He has to get this done, he has to figure out what Cobs is up to- what future plans Meeple has and- well, obviously discover the past secrets of what happened.. all those years ago to the Shimmers..

Why did Cobs attack the Shimmers? What MePhone models did he send? Are any of them alive? Who else knows about this project? But more importantly, what did Cobs do to the only egg he got out of the mission.. where is the lost egg? Are they dead? Are they alive?..

Are they even the same?

All these burning questions needed answers, Fan desperately needed answers.. he desperately needed to know what happened to the last lost Shimmer youth- he felt a need to save them- to give them back to the Shimmers..

Ever since he learnt of the crimes the Meeple company committed on the Shimmers, Fan had felt a burning need to dig deeper.. to save the last one.. Fan felt like- this was his purpose, as crazy as that sounded.. ever since he and Test Tube defeated those MePhones the night of the new moon. Ever since then, Fan instinctively felt as though that was his purpose in life. To stop Meeple, to disrupt Cobs' plans.. to bring justice to that horrific man.. especially after what happened with egg.. he needed to bring closure to the Shimmers..

Maybe that's why he had that innate feeling to care for the egg he found on Mars.. why he's always been so obsessed over Meeple, ever since he could remember.. obsessing over the show.. over Meeple.. over the Shimmers.. over MePhone4.. over Cobs.. Why did he have an innate obsession over this topics? Are they connected? Maybe they are.. Fan wouldn't be surprised.. he always had a skill on picking up little things, that build along to the theories he crafted..

Of course not all of his theories were right, he never could have imagined that the baby Shimmer he found on Mars was some alien lifeform.. but hey- how could he know anyways??!!

Fan stretched his back, wincing and groaning from the sudden sharp pain that prickled across his spine(?).. Fan grumbled, hunching back over once again, knowing full well this posture is what's killing his back.. he pushed up his glasses, growing annoyed by how easily they were slipping off his flat paper face.. at least they stayed on for the most part.. though the fact that they do is.. weird..
