Dhanush was adjusting his tuxedo in front of the mirror, making sure everything was perfect for the evening.

It was his birthday, and the Chauhan family had planned a celebration with close friends and relatives.

As usual, Kamakshi had taken charge of everything-she decided the menu and had even baked the cake herself, just the way Dhanush liked it.

The house was filled with the soft buzz of conversations and laughter as everyone gathered downstairs.

In his room, Shivam sat lazily on the bed, munching on Dhanush's beloved potato chips.

Dhanush glanced at him through the mirror, noticing how his stock of snacks was slowly disappearing into Shivam's hands.

"Don't eat my food," Dhanush said, smirking as he adjusted his collar.

Shivam grinned, unfazed. "Arre yaar, dosti mein kya tera aur kya mera," he replied, stuffing another handful of chips into his mouth.

Dhanush raised an eyebrow, his smirk deepening. "Accha, toh iska matlab Samiksha bhi meri hai?" he teased, knowing exactly how to push Shivam's buttons.

Shivam instantly glared at him. "Except for our wives. They're off-limits, understood?" he shot back, earning a chuckle from Dhanush.

"Tu pyaar karta hai na Nivedita se?" Shivam asked suddenly, the question catching Dhanush off guard.

Without missing a beat, Dhanush answered, "Haan."

Shivam blinked in surprise. "Wow, what progress! No denial, no hesitation. Straight answer. I'm impressed."

Dhanush shrugged nonchalantly, "Main aisa hi hoon. Main teri tarah nahi hoon jo pyaar hone ke baad bhi usse accept na kare."

Shivam rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, meri kahani sabne padh li. Iss kahani ka hero tu hai."

Dhanush smirked again. "Toh phir mujhe thodi footage lene de."

Shivam laughed, recalling an old conversation. "Yaad hai maine kaha tha, ki one day you'll be desperate for someone's attention, just like I was for Samiksha? And you were all, 'No one can make me desperate like that.' Well, looks like karma's biting you back. I can see all sorts of emotions-holy and unholy-in your eyes for Nivedita."

Dhanush didn't respond, focusing on finishing getting ready.

He knew Shivam was right.

His heart had been slipping further into Nivedita's grasp, and lately, he didn't even want to resist it.

After a few moments, both men headed downstairs to join the others.

The lively hum of the party filled the air, and Dhanush was immediately greeted by family and friends.

He touched the feet of his in-laws, who blessed him warmly, their affection making him smile.

Then he spotted Tanisha, his sister-in-law, standing nearby.

He greeted her with a side hug.

"Happy birthday, Jiju!" Tanisha beamed, hugging him back.

Dhanush grinned and gently pulled her cheeks. "Thank you so much, Tani."

From across the room, Nivedita watched the interaction with a soft smile. Seeing Dhanush with her family filled her with happiness, and her respect for him grew even more.

He had seamlessly blended into her world, and she couldn't help but admire the way he handled everything with grace and charm.

But Dhanush was preoccupied with something-or rather, someone-else.
