POV CHARLOTTE

I had no idea how long I'd been on the dance floor, losing myself in the thrum of the music and the heat of bodies moving around me. P'Fa still hadn't bothered to join me.

And honestly, I was getting close-so close-to not caring anymore. But my eyes betrayed me, flicking toward our booth.

There she was-of course, sitting with her; Victoria.

I couldn't hear what they were saying, but I didn't need to. The sight of Victoria laughing at something P'Fa whispered was enough to twist the knife already lodged in my chest.

Goddamn it. That woman-my woman-was really pushing my limits tonight.

"Hey, quit staring at the booth!" P'Ling's voice jolted me out of my thoughts. She was dancing next to me, her arm draped over Orm, who was grinning, clearly oblivious to the tension simmering inside me. "Forget about her! You're here with us, right?"

Orm laughed, throwing her hands in the air, swaying to the rhythm. "Yeah, P'Char! Let her miss out! We're having a blast! Whooooooo!"

Her shout caught the attention of the others-Nudee, Yoko, Meena-all of them now looking our way, laughing and cheering as Orm's energy spread like wildfire through the group. Even P'Faye, who was swaying in a half-daze, glanced over with a half-smirk, her eyes heavy from the alcohol.

I let out a laugh, though it felt more like a growl, the anger bubbling beneath my skin. Before I could stop myself, I raised my glass and yelled back, "Screw it all!"

The group erupted into cheers and laughter, their carefree spirits washing over me for a moment, distracting me from the ache. But even through the noise, I could feel it-the sting of watching P'Fa sitting there with her, like I didn't even matter.

P'Mew sauntered over, his body in sync with the beat, two glasses in his hands. He leaned in, offering one to me.

"To a long night," he said with a sly grin, clinking his glass against mine.

I raised my drink, my voice rising with the crowd's. "To forgetting everything!"

The group erupted in cheers, and for a fleeting moment, I allowed myself to be swept away by the chaos. My gaze wandered back to the booth where she sat with Victoria, pushing the limits of my resolve. I gulped down the last of my drink.

A few moments later, I reached for another glass from P'Mew. Just as I lifted it to my lips, a sudden grip halted me. Warm fingers wrapped around my wrist.

"That's enough, Charlotte," a low, familiar voice murmured in my ear, sending a jolt through my body.

I froze.

The scent of her perfume, the heat radiating from her presence-it was unmistakable. Engfa Waraha, finally making her move.

I turned slowly, my heart pounding, to find her standing impossibly close, her gaze intense. Over her shoulder, I spotted Victoria, now swaying with her friends, laughing without a care in the world. The sight fueled the anger that had been simmering inside me.

"And why now, Engfa?" I hissed, venom lacing my words. "Did your little friend ditch you? How pathetic."

Her eyes darkened, but she held my gaze steadily. "You're drunk, baby. You need to stop."

I took a step forward, closing the distance between us, my arms sliding up around her neck.

The air between us crackled with tension. "Oh, don't worry about me, darling," I whispered mockingly, my lips brushing her ear. "Why? You don't like me like this?" My voice dripped with malice. "Don't be so naïve, Engfa."
