Charlotte stormed down the hospital hallway, each step more determined than the last. Her jaw clenched as she approached Victoria's room. The guard stationed outside immediately stepped forward, blocking her path just as she reached the door.

"Tell your boss, Charlotte Austin is here to see her. Now." Her voice was low, but the tension simmering beneath each word was unmistakable.

She wasn't just angry-she was livid.

Engfa's reckless decision to meet with Victoria had pushed Charlotte over the edge. The weight of unspoken frustrations boiled within her, threatening to spill over.

The guard shook his head firmly. "Miss Varee's instructions were clear-"

"Victoria!" Charlotte's voice broke through the air, sharp and loud enough to draw attention from nearby staff. "I know you're in there!"

Several hospital personnel rushed over, their expressions concerned.

"Khun! please lower your voice-this is a hospital," one of the nurses urged, while security began approaching from down the hall.

Charlotte took a long, deliberate breath, her chest rising with heat and tension. She shut her eyes, trying to contain the storm brewing inside her-but just as she did, the door clicked open.

"My apologies for the disturbance." Victoria's voice was smooth, cutting through the noise. Her smile was polite, but there was a sharpness to it. "Please, return to your work."

The hospital staff hesitated, then dispersed. Charlotte's eyes flew open, and there she was-Victoria, standing in the doorway, dressed in a simple hospital gown. The bandages wrapped tightly around her abdomen peeked through, a subtle reminder of the wound she had sustained.

"I need to talk to you," Charlotte said, her voice now controlled but no less dangerous.

Victoria gave a small nod, stepping aside. "Come in."

Charlotte followed her inside, the door clicking shut behind them. Victoria didn't waste time, crossing the room to sit on the edge of the bed, legs crossed casually, elbows resting on her knees. She leaned forward, her cheek propped up by her hand, staring at Charlotte as if daring her to speak.

Charlotte stood her ground, taking another steadying breath. "How are you holding up?"

Victoria arched a brow, not bothering to respond immediately. Instead, she gestured lazily at the bandages around her midsection. "I've seen better days," she finally said, her voice as cool as ever.

Charlotte nodded, the tension between them thickening the air. "I owe you thanks. If it wasn't for you, Engfa wouldn't have made it."

A slow, almost mocking smile crept across Victoria's face. "It needed to be done. She's far too important for me to die like that."

Charlotte flinched at the bluntness, her lips parting as she fought to find her words. "How did you even know there was a bomb in our car?"

Victoria's grin stretched wider, a hint of amusement dancing in her eyes. "Let's just say it was an educated guess," she remarked, uncrossing her legs as she leaned back casually. "Though, if Engfa hadn't been so preoccupied with your little, carefree stunt, maybe she would've caught on herself. Such a pity, really."

Charlotte let out a bitter laugh, her eyes narrowing. "We were having a normal dinner. How could anyone have predicted-"

"Charlotte." Victoria's voice cut through her like a blade, forcing her to stop mid-sentence. "Our lives are always under threat. There's no such thing as normal for people like us. Every moment, every breath, there's a fire waiting to burn us alive. You know that. You should've known better. Engfa got lucky this time, but luck runs out."
