Patcha and Snack cracked open the door to their suite, peeking into the hallway with barely contained grins as the muffled sound of two people whisper-arguing drifted their way.
Not long after, Apo and Mew's door creaked open just a sliver, the two of them joining in on the silent eavesdropping, mirroring Snack and Patcha's curious expressions.
Charlotte strolled down the hallway but stopped abruptly when she heard the click of heels behind her. She turned, her annoyance bubbling to the surface.
"Why are you still following me?" Charlotte asked, frowning, completely unaware that they had attracted an audience.
Engfa halted, avoiding eye contact as if the floor held all the answers.
"I told you, don't come into our room. Go sleep in P'Patcha's room! Or wherever!" Charlotte muttered, frustration edging her voice.
Hearing her name, Patcha raised an eyebrow at Snack, who quickly whispered, "If P'Fa really tries to crash here, don't let her. Tell her to sleep in one of the empty suites, okay?" she teased with a mischievous grin.
Patcha rolled her eyes, whispering back, "I couldn't do that. Just let her stay here."
Snack giggled softly. "I'm kidding. Poor thing, look at her face."
Engfa sighed. "How about I sleep outside in the living room, then? Does that work?"
Charlotte crossed her arms and exhaled sharply. "I don't want to see you tonight. Get it?"
Engfa opened her mouth to respond, but her gaze flickered to the group now very obviously peeking from their rooms-Patcha, Snack, Mew, Apo, Lingling, Orm, Meena, Aoom, Nudee, Yoko-all their eyes glued to her. Even the guards were barely able to contain their amusement, exchanging smirks.
"We can talk about this inside, Miss Austin," Engfa said, her tone steady, trying to regain some control over the situation.
Charlotte huffed, visibly irritated. "I already said no! You're not coming in!" She turned on her heel, storming into their suite and slamming the door behind her.
Engfa stood there, expression unreadable, before shaking her head. She made her way toward their own suite, but not without glancing at each of her friends still peeking through their slightly open doors.
"You can stop peeking and open your doors now," she muttered with a shake of her head.
Instantly, all the doors swung open.
"Trouble in paradise, Fa?" Mew snickered, leaning against his doorframe.
"Come sleep here, P'Fa! I'm alone!" Nudee called out playfully.
"Or the three of us can squeeze in here together, Fa! Come on, it would be fun!" Lingling shouted.
Orm giggled and added, "Yeah! Come here!"
Yoko then chimed in, "I'd offer you to sleep with me and P'Faye, but I'm afraid it would be too much of a headache for both of you compared to P'Char!"
Engfa shot them all a sharp look, lips pressed together, and kept walking without another word.
At 2 a.m., Charlotte jolted awake to the sound of something crashing to the floor, followed by a low groan.
Rubbing her eyes, Charlotte sat up and squinted into the darkness before stepping out of bed. As she made her way into the living area, she spotted Engfa on the floor, rubbing her head.
Charlotte stifled a laugh, but when Engfa noticed her, she shot her the coldest glare.
"What on earth are you doing?"
