The house they'd chosen as the meeting point felt surprisingly comfortable, especially considering the high-stakes heist they had just pulled off for The Eternal Inferno a few hours earlier. Now, the team was just waiting for Engfa and Faye, who were on their way back.
Tina, who hadn't been part of the heist, was spending time at Heidi’s family house.
She would be there until the launch of The Majestic 2, in two weeks.
She had managed to secure a month-long leave from the police department—her impressive service record made it impossible for her boss to refuse. Engfa had told her to stay out of sight until The Majestic 2 launch, and during The Eternal Inferno heist, Tina had been sent off to Brussels with Heidi.
It was a flawless alibi.
Charlotte sat anxiously in the living room, still wearing the cloak from earlier. She clutched the diamond tightly, her fingers never loosening their grip since the car ride with Aoom and the others.
Now, seated on the sofa, she still hadn’t let go, holding the diamond through the fabric of the cloak.
The weight of something worth hundreds of millions of euros sitting in her pocket made her hands tremble. The thought of it slipping from her grasp and shattering her life haunted her every second.
Minutes passed before they heard cars pulling into the garage. Engfa and Faye had arrived, their guards opening the car doors as they stepped out.
As soon as Engfa walked in, followed by Faye, Charlotte stood up, hastily removing her cloak. Her hands were still shaking as she handed the diamond over to Engfa.
"Baby, please take it. I'm going to have a heart attack if I hold this any longer," she said, her voice shaky with nerves.
Lingling and Meena couldn't help but laugh.
"She's been holding onto that thing like her life depends on it," Meena said, shaking her head."P'Char, relax," Yoko smiled kindly at her.
Charlotte turned to Yoko, eyes wide. "Relax? If I drop this, my life's over! I'll spend the rest of my days trying to pay for it, and I sure as hell don't have that kind of money lying around!" she exclaimed.
Engfa signaled Apo, who stepped forward with a small lockbox. Taking the diamond from Engfa, he secured it inside.
Engfa then wrapped her arms around Charlotte from behind, resting her chin on Charlotte’s shoulder. "You were amazing tonight. And so damn sexy," she whispered in Charlotte’s ear.
Charlotte's eyes widened in shock, blinking rapidly. "Baby! Don't say that in front of everyone!"
Engfa grinned, letting go of her and planting a soft kiss on her head. "Why not? It's true. Good job, by the way, my love," she said, walking to the end of the sofa.
"Such romance! No jealousy allowed after this, okay?" Mew teased, giggling.
Charlotte shot him a playful glare before sinking back onto the sofa next to Faye.
Faye gently rubbed Charlotte's back, offering a reassuring smile. "You did great. Really."
Charlotte nodded, "Thanks, Phi."
Engfa's voice soon filled the room, commanding everyone's attention. "Alright, let's wrap it up for the night. Head back to the hotel, complete the final steps, and store it like we always do." She gave a nod to Apo, who acknowledged with a nod of his own. "Everything went according to plan. You were all incredible tonight. Thank you."
The team cheered, congratulating each other on a successful job.
"Did you see the owner's face when they realized it was gone? Priceless!" Snack laughed.
