Getting used to parenthood was a struggle for the two, especially when it came to sleep and rest. And Ayumi was definitely a loud crier, but Katsuki was lucky enough Hitoshi usually took care of the 3am fussing and crying.
Especially after labor, everything was being taken out of Katsuki, and it was because even after Ayumi was born, his body still had to go through immense recovery.
It was another late night of Katsuki trying to get their fussy daughter to bed, he sat in the rocking chair with a tired look on his face, struggling to get her to bed. She was bawling her eyes out and was endlessly kicking even in her swaddle. "Hitoshi! I need you!"
The alpha quickly ran up the stairs and went over to the nursery with a few small pants. "Yeah?"
"Can you try getting her to bed? I've been trying for the last five minutes but she.. She just won't go to bed. You're so much better with her than I am." Katsuki said with a hopeless expression on his face, honestly it hurt him because he was the one who gave her life, the least she could do was at least like him.
Hitoshi went over and took the infant into his arms and patted her back a bit. "Baby. I'm not better at taking care of her. She just has her moments, she's a newborn. At times it will hurt your feelings to see her calm down faster with me. But I can't do half the shit you do. You feed her, Kat. You created her. I can't give you enough kudos for that.. She's just trying to get used to the world around her. And that means it will take a while for her to like everyone around her." He said and soon he got her to go to bed and laid her down in the crib.
Katsuki looked up at him and his tears welled up with tears. "But.. You're so much better with her. Y-you take her into your arms and immediately she calms down. I can hold her for an hour and all she wants from me is food." He said and let out a broken sigh. "I just wish that.. I don't know. I don't want her to like me more than you, but I want her to like us equally."
Hitoshi went over and knelt down so he could be on an even level with the Omega. "I get that. But again, it's not because she likes me more than you. I bet if she could say it she'd say thank you for feeding her every day, making her milk, everything possible. You are her favorite. But in a different way for now."
Maybe it was just postpartum blues, not depression, just sometimes feeling sad and upset when things didn't go exactly as planned. "Yeah, I guess I've just been.. Paranoid and sad about it. But thanks for being there to cheer me up. As always." He said and smiled before getting up, singing out slightly. "She's just a little jerk. But I'll get over it, I mean.. You can't deny that face of course."
...
And then there were the extremely sleepless nights, where neither of them could sleep. But that's what they call parenthood; staying up with your kid when your kid is in discomfort or is unable to sleep as well.
Ayumi had been dealing with a rough case of a cold, and when you're a baby, everything scares you and everything, yes, everything is a new experience for you.
Whenever she sneezed or coughed she would endlessly wail because she didn't understand what was happening, and even with Katsuki and Hitoshi trying to ease her, she wouldn't calm down for either of them. And it was a pain. Many tears from all ends were shed.
But with that came light, because as a family they were able to overcome it, and when I say overcome, I mean that they all fell asleep together after Ayumi was too tired to cry anymore, and from the relief of two tired parents.
...
But before they knew it, Ayumi was six months and striving in everything, everyone had gotten used to this life. They were all cheerful and with the help of Ayumi's grandparents, they were able to get through the questions together. And Katsuki and Hitoshi even got to have a few nights alone together, and by nights alone, it was with protection because there was no way they'd be having another baby for a long, long time.
...
When Ayumi turned two, a month later Hitoshi and Katsuki got married, their wedding was beautiful and even better than they had planned, somehow, Katsukis friends all convinced him to wear a dress.
And, their now toddler could be their flower girl.
The wedding was stunning, nothing was imperfect, nothing went wrong, and at the end of it the newlyweds announced they were expecting their second baby, but they were 20 and 21 now, so their life was getting much easier, they were both financially set and responsible and they were unstoppable.
Even after all their hardships, they had gotten through the past. And like every good couple, they had their disagreements, but didn't fight and learned that simply talking it out was the solution to everything, communication was what they all needed and that's how they solved their problems.
...
And a year later, they were a family of 4 with a 3-year-old and a two month old baby boy who they named Daiki, meaning 'born from great glory.'
They were perfect together, and this was all going to work out fine.
With their rough start, Hitoshi playing with Katsukis heart for some time, and then getting the exact karma he deserved, they learned to overcome what at some point set them apart.
And now, their children could see two happy parents with little to no disagreement, and having an amazing dynamic that they learned from their parents, or at least the ones who stuck around through Katsukis pregnancy and who supported the two all the way through this.
Being teens definitely wasn't ideal, they had both just turned 18 and were getting close to graduating. But that also taught them to grow up fast, and it got them to the point they now lived in.
Both of them have at home jobs where they could focus all of their love and attention on their families.
Katsuki became a counselor and worked part-time for his parents company, and Hitoshi was able to do the same as he was full-time for the Bakugou's designer company.
In the end, it all worked out. Some accidents turned into beautiful beginnings.
And that was how it worked out for this beautiful and small family.
