next day, Ken’s stomach churned with nerves. She had barely slept, her mind consumed by the upcoming conversation with Wenny. This was it—there was no more delaying, no more hiding. Everything would be laid bare.
She pulled on her usual jacket, taking an extra moment to glance at the Spider-Man suit hidden beneath her bed. Today, it would no longer be just a secret. Wenny was going to learn who Ken really was.
They had agreed to meet after school in a quiet spot near an abandoned park, away from prying eyes. Ken arrived first, her motorcycle parked just out of sight. She paced nervously, checking her phone for any messages from Wenny. None had come.
Then, she heard the sound of footsteps approaching. Ken looked up to see Wenny walking toward her, looking as determined as ever.
“I’m here,” Wenny said, crossing her arms. “So, what is this all about? Why did you throw those guys like they were paper dolls?”
Ken swallowed hard, steeling herself for what she had to do. “I… I’m not normal, Wenny,” she began slowly, her voice shaky. “I’m… something else. I’ve been keeping this secret for a long time, and I didn’t want you or anyone else to know because it’s dangerous.”
Wenny’s eyes narrowed. “What are you talking about?”
Ken took a deep breath and stepped back slightly. “Just… don’t freak out, okay?”
Before Wenny could respond, Ken reached up and pulled down the zipper of her jacket, revealing the Spider-Man suit underneath. Wenny’s eyes widened in shock.
“Wait… you’re Spider-Man?” Wenny’s voice wavered between disbelief and awe as she took a step closer.
Ken nodded, feeling the weight of the secret lift, but also fearing how Wenny might react next. “Yes. I’ve been Spider-Man for a while now. That’s why I disappear, why I’m always running off. I’m trying to protect the city… and you.”
Wenny’s mouth opened, but no words came out at first. She stared at Ken, her expression unreadable, as the reality of what she was seeing sank in. “You’re serious… This isn’t some joke?”
“I wouldn’t joke about something like this,” Ken said softly, looking at Wenny with pleading eyes. “I didn’t want to lie to you, Wenny. I just—”
“You’re Spider-Man,” Wenny repeated, her voice quieter now as she processed the truth. She shook her head slowly. “I don’t even know what to say right now.”
Ken stepped forward cautiously, her heart pounding. “Wenny, I didn’t want to tell you because it puts you in danger. Every day, I’m out there risking my life, and the people close to me… they can get hurt. I couldn’t bear it if something happened to you because of me.”
Wenny stared at her, a mixture of emotions playing across her face. “Ken… I… I don’t know what to say. This is… huge. You’re Spider-Man. But you’re also just… Ken. The Ken I know.”
Ken gave a small, nervous laugh. “Yeah… both.”
For a moment, the air was thick with tension, as if both of them were on the edge of something they couldn’t quite understand yet.
Wenny took a deep breath and stepped closer to Ken, her expression softening. “I’m not going to pretend I understand everything right now, but… I don’t hate you for it. I just… need time to wrap my head around this.”
Ken felt a weight lift off her shoulders. “That’s all I’m asking for. I just didn’t want to lie to you anymore.”
Wenny sighed, looking down at the ground before meeting Ken’s eyes again. “So, this whole time, you’ve been saving people? Running around in that suit?”
Ken nodded. “Yeah. And it’s not easy. But it’s something I have to do.”
Wenny shook her head, letting out a soft laugh. “You’re something else, Kenjiro Nakamura.”
Ken’s heart did a little flip hearing Wenny say her full name, her voice lighter than before. It seemed like Wenny was beginning to accept the truth, even if it was a lot to take in.
“I still can’t believe I’ve been going to school with Spider-Man,” Wenny said with a small grin. “I thought you were just some brooding guy who rode a motorcycle.”
Ken chuckled. “Well, I guess I’m that too.”
Wenny’s smile faded slightly, her tone more serious now. “But Ken, you said it yourself—this is dangerous. What if something happens to you? What if—”
Ken cut her off gently, her voice soft but firm. “I’ll be careful. I’ve been doing this for a while now, and I’ve learned how to handle it. But I can’t promise I’ll always be safe. That’s the risk that comes with it.”
Wenny bit her lip, clearly torn between worry and admiration. “I don’t want you to get hurt, Ken.”
“I don’t want to hurt you either,” Ken said, her eyes locking with Wenny’s. “But I’m glad you know now. I trust you.”
Wenny’s face softened again, and for the first time, Ken saw the walls between them start to fall away. They stood in silence for a moment, the weight of everything hanging in the air.
Then, unexpectedly, Wenny stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Ken, pulling her into a hug. Ken froze for a second, surprised by the sudden gesture, but then she relaxed, wrapping her arms around Wenny in return.
“I’m still mad you didn’t tell me sooner,” Wenny whispered into Ken’s shoulder, her voice a mix of humor and affection.
“I didn’t know how,” Ken whispered back, her heart swelling as she held Wenny close. “But I’m glad you know now.”
As they stood there, in the quiet of the park, Ken realized that this was the closest she had ever felt to Wenny. Even with all the danger, all the risks, this was worth it.

The next day...
Ken and Wenny walked to school together for the first time, an unspoken understanding between them. They weren’t just classmates anymore. They weren’t even just enemies, or reluctant friends. They were something more—two people bound by a secret, and by the growing connection between them.
Wenny still had questions, and Ken knew there would be challenges ahead. But for now, the tension between them had eased, replaced by a new sense of trust.
Ken looked over at Wenny, who caught her gaze and gave her a small, teasing smile. “So, when do I get to see you in action, Spider-Man?”
Ken laughed, shaking her head. “We’ll see. But don’t expect too much. I still have to pass chemistry.”
Wenny smirked. “Yeah, I’ll believe it when I see it.”
Ken couldn’t help but smile as they walked side by side. For the first time in a long time, she felt like she wasn’t carrying her secret alone. And somehow, that made all the difference.
