Ken and Wenny found a quiet corner of the party after returning from their moment outside, seeking some peace from the bustling crowd. Ken leaned back against the wall, one arm draped casually over Wenny’s shoulder, as they watched their classmates dance and chatter around them. The night had already felt like a dream, their first kiss still lingering in Wenny’s mind like the sweetest memory. But just as Wenny began to relax, a group of girls approached, their eyes locked onto Ken. Wenny immediately tensed, her grip on Ken tightening. She’d noticed these girls hanging around throughout the night, constantly finding excuses to talk to Ken, laughing too loud at jokes that weren’t even funny.
“Hey, Ken!” one of the girls called out with a bright smile, ignoring Wenny completely. The others giggled as they circled closer.
Ken gave them a polite nod, her gaze flicking to Wenny with a reassuring smile. “Hey, what’s up?”
Wenny tried to keep her cool, but the irritation was building up inside her. The girls were acting like she wasn’t even there, their attention solely focused on Ken. One of them leaned in closer, her hand brushing Ken’s arm as she spoke.
“You look so good in that wolfcut,” she said, her voice dripping with flirty sweetness. “You must’ve had people lining up to dance with you tonight.”
Ken smiled politely, clearly trying to keep the interaction casual. “Thanks. But I’m just here to chill with Wenny tonight.”
Wenny’s heart skipped at Ken’s words, feeling a wave of warmth at her acknowledgment. But the girls didn’t seem to care. If anything, they seemed even more determined to steal Ken’s attention.
One of them, clearly the leader of the group, stepped closer. “You sure? I mean, the night’s still young. We could dance or—”
Wenny had heard enough. “Ken’s with me,” she said, her voice sharper than she intended. She glanced at Ken, hoping she wasn’t overstepping, but Ken just smiled softly, appreciating Wenny’s protective streak.
The girl barely spared Wenny a glance, but she stepped back slightly, a smirk playing at the edges of her lips. “Oh, we didn’t mean to intrude. Just thought Ken might want to have a little more fun tonight.”
The way she emphasized “fun” made Wenny’s blood boil. She opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, Ken squeezed her hand lightly, a silent message to stay calm.
“We’re good,” Ken said firmly, looking directly at the girl, making it clear that the conversation was over. “Thanks, though.”
The girls hesitated, exchanging glances, clearly not used to being dismissed. For a moment, Wenny thought they were going to walk away, but just as the group leader turned to leave, she quickly leaned in and planted a kiss on Ken’s cheek.
“There’s a little something for later,” she said with a wink before blowing Ken a flying kiss.
Wenny’s eyes widened, and she immediately felt a surge of anger rise in her chest. The audacity of it made her want to scream. She opened her mouth, ready to fire back at the girl, but before she could get the words out, Ken stood up and placed herself between Wenny and the girls, her expression calm but serious.
“Not cool,” Ken said, her voice steady but firm. “Don’t do that again.”
The girl, clearly trying to play it off, shrugged and gave a fake laugh. “Relax, it was just a joke.”
Ken’s gaze didn’t waver. “It’s not funny. Now, leave us alone.”
With that, the girl’s smirk faltered, and she finally turned to leave, her friends trailing after her. As they walked away, Wenny could feel her hands trembling with frustration.
Ken turned back to her, a soft smile tugging at her lips. “You okay?”
Wenny huffed, crossing her arms. “I hate them.”
Ken chuckled softly and leaned down to plant a kiss on Wenny’s forehead. “Don’t worry about them. They don’t matter.”
Wenny looked up, her irritation melting slightly at the gentleness in Ken’s eyes. “Still, that was so annoying.”
“I know,” Ken said, sitting back down beside her and wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “But the only person I’m interested in is sitting right next to me.”
Wenny’s heart fluttered, her earlier anger fading completely as she leaned into Ken’s embrace. “You better not let anyone else kiss you,” she muttered, half-joking, half-serious.
Ken grinned, squeezing her lightly. “Don’t worry. You’re the only one I’m saving those kisses for.”
Wenny smiled despite herself, feeling the tension of the night slowly ebb away. As long as she had Ken by her side, she could deal with a few jealous girls.
Together, they sat in their corner, the noise of the party fading into the background as they found comfort in each other.
