Ken trudged back home after the long night, her body sore and covered in bruises. The adrenaline from the mission had worn off, leaving her exhausted. The bomb had been disarmed, the villain caught, and the city saved—just another day in the life of Spider-Man.But her thoughts kept drifting back to Wenny. That kiss... it complicated things in a way Ken hadn’t expected.
When she finally made it home, Ken collapsed onto the couch, her suit still on. She needed rest, but her mind wouldn’t stop racing. Just as she closed her eyes, a knock echoed from the door. Ken’s eyes snapped open. It was late, and she wasn’t expecting anyone.
Reluctantly, Ken dragged herself to the door, opening it slowly. To her surprise, Wenny stood there, her arms crossed and a concerned expression on her face.
"Kenji... where have you been?" Wenny asked, her voice soft but laced with worry.
Ken hesitated. "Out," she replied, stepping aside to let Wenny in. She wasn’t ready to explain everything. Not yet.
Wenny frowned, walking past her into the living room. "Out? All night? You look like you’ve been through a war." Her gaze swept over Ken's bruised arms and face. "I was worried."
Ken sighed, sitting on the edge of the couch. "I’m fine. Just... some personal stuff."
Wenny didn’t say anything at first. She simply stood there, studying Ken, as if trying to figure her out. The tension from the day before still lingered between them, unspoken but heavy.
Finally, Wenny broke the silence. "About... yesterday," she began, her voice uncertain. "That kiss… I didn’t mean to—"
"I know," Ken interrupted quickly, her tone awkward. "It’s okay. We don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to."
But Wenny didn’t seem satisfied with that answer. She took a step closer, her gaze intense. "No, Kenji. I want to talk about it. I need to know if it meant something to you."
Ken’s heart skipped a beat. She had been dreading this conversation, and now it was happening. Her mind was a mess, torn between her growing feelings for Wenny and the reality of her complicated life as Spider-Man.
"It’s not that simple," Ken replied, rubbing the back of her neck. "I have a lot going on. Things you don’t even know about. And I don’t want to drag you into that mess."
Wenny's eyes softened as she knelt in front of Ken, taking her hands in her own. "I don’t care about your mess, Kenji. I care about you."
Ken’s chest tightened. Wenny’s sincerity was disarming. She had spent so much time pushing people away, thinking it was for their own good. But now, looking into Wenny’s eyes, Ken realized how much she wanted to let someone in.
Just as she was about to say something, Wenny leaned forward and kissed her again, but this time it was slow, deliberate. Ken’s mind went blank as she kissed her back, the weight of everything else falling away.
The kiss lingered for a moment longer before Wenny pulled back, her cheeks flushed. "I’ll be here, Kenji," she whispered. "Whatever you're going through, you don’t have to face it alone."
Ken’s heart swelled with emotion, but before she could respond, her phone buzzed loudly. She glanced down at it—an urgent message from her Spider-Man contact.
Another mission. Just when things were starting to make sense.
Ken groaned, standing up and looking back at Wenny apologetically. "I have to go."
Wenny blinked, her expression dropping. "Again? Where?"
Ken hesitated, then shook her head. "I can’t explain. Not yet."
Wenny’s frustration was clear, but she didn’t argue. "Be careful," she said quietly, watching as Ken grabbed her jacket and rushed toward the door.
"Always," Ken replied with a half-smile, though inside, she felt a pang of guilt. She didn’t know how much longer she could keep the truth from Wenny.
As Ken stepped out into the night, she knew that whatever came next—whether it was fighting criminals or navigating her feelings for Wenny—it wasn’t going to be easy
