The morning sunlight filtered through the windows, casting a warm glow over the cozy kitchen where Wenny was busy preparing breakfast. The sizzle of eggs filled the air as she flipped them expertly in the pan. The smell of fresh toast and coffee drifted through the house, making the quiet morning feel even more comforting.
In the living room, Bentley sat on the sofa, completely engrossed in the cartoons playing on TV. His legs swung back and forth as he giggled at the animated characters, his wide eyes glued to the screen.
"Bentley, breakfast will be ready soon!" Wenny called out, glancing over her shoulder to make sure he had heard her.
"Okay, Mommy!" Bentley replied without taking his eyes off the screen, his voice filled with excitement.
As Wenny continued cooking, she glanced down the hall towards their bedroom where Ken was still fast asleep. Ken had always been a night owl, and after a particularly long week, Wenny wasn’t surprised she was still sleeping. With a small smile, Wenny set the table, quietly enjoying the peacefulness of the morning.

That Night – 1:04 AM
The day had passed smoothly, filled with little moments of joy and laughter with Bentley, but as the night settled in, Wenny’s heart began to grow heavy with worry.
It was late—1:04 AM—and Ken was out again, patrolling the city as Spider-Man. Wenny knew that Ken had to go out, had to help people when they needed her. But every time Ken left in the middle of the night, Wenny couldn’t help but feel a tight knot form in her chest. She trusted Ken’s abilities, but the dangers of being a hero were always at the back of her mind.
Sitting by the window, Wenny watched the city lights twinkle in the distance, her phone resting on the table beside her. She had sent Ken a text earlier, asking if she was okay, but there had been no response yet.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud news bulletin blaring from the TV. Wenny’s heart skipped a beat as the reporter’s voice filled the room.
“We’re receiving reports of an aggressive robbery in the downtown area,” the reporter said, her tone urgent. “Witnesses say Spider-Man is on the scene, trying to deescalate the situation. The suspects are armed and dangerous…”
Wenny’s heart raced, fear gripping her. She stood up from the couch, eyes fixed on the screen. She knew Ken was out there, putting herself in danger, trying to save people as always. But this time, something felt different—more intense. The robbers were described as heavily armed, and the situation seemed to be escalating.
Her thoughts raced as she paced the living room, biting her lip anxiously. She knew she couldn’t just sit and wait, but what else could she do? Ken had promised to always come home to her, but that didn’t stop the fear from gnawing at her every time something like this happened.
She couldn’t help but wonder if tonight would be different.

Out in the City
Meanwhile, Ken swung from building to building, her heart pounding in her chest as she raced towards the scene of the robbery. She could hear the sirens blaring in the distance, the chaos of the city unfolding below her.
The robbers had taken hostages in a nearby bank, and their aggression was ramping up with every passing minute. Ken knew she had to act fast. Her body moved on instinct, her senses heightened as she approached the scene.
She landed silently on the rooftop of a nearby building, surveying the area. The hostages were being held inside the bank, their terrified faces visible through the glass windows. The robbers, armed and dangerous, were pacing back and forth, shouting demands at the police outside.
Ken’s mind raced as she calculated her next move. She needed to get inside without being noticed, needed to take down the robbers before they hurt anyone. But this was one of the most intense situations she had faced in a while.
With a deep breath, she leaped from the rooftop, landing gracefully in the shadows outside the bank. It was time to act.

Back at Home
Wenny’s anxiety continued to build as she watched the news unfold. She couldn’t tear her eyes away from the screen, her mind filled with a thousand what-ifs. She could barely sit still, her foot tapping nervously against the floor as she waited for any update from Ken.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed. She grabbed it immediately, her heart leaping into her throat. It was a message from Ken.
“I’m okay. Handling the situation. Love you.”
Wenny let out a breath she didn’t realize she had been holding. She quickly typed back, her fingers shaking slightly.
“Be careful, please. Come home soon.”
She stared at the screen, waiting for a reply, but none came. Still, the message had given her a small sense of relief. Ken was okay. For now.
Wenny sat back down, wrapping her arms around herself as she waited, her thoughts still racing, but her heart clinging to the hope that Ken would come home safe—like she always did.

Later That Night
It was well past 3 AM when Wenny finally heard the front door open quietly. She jumped up from the couch, rushing to the door as Ken walked in, still in her Spider-Man suit, but visibly tired.
“Ken!” Wenny exclaimed, throwing her arms around her before she could even take off her mask. “I was so worried about you.”
Ken hugged her back tightly, the familiar warmth of Wenny’s embrace grounding her. “I’m okay, Wenny. I’m here.”
Wenny pulled back slightly, her eyes searching Ken’s face, still filled with concern. “You scared me… the news said it was really bad.”
Ken smiled softly, lifting her mask to kiss Wenny’s forehead. “It was rough, but I handled it. No one got hurt.”
Wenny sighed, the relief finally washing over her. “I don’t know what I’d do if something happened to you, Ken.”
Ken gently cupped Wenny’s face, her thumbs brushing away the remnants of worry from Wenny’s brow. “I’m always going to come back to you. Always.”
Wenny nodded, resting her forehead against Ken’s. “I know. I just—”
“I know,” Ken whispered, cutting her off gently. “But I’m here. I’m safe. Let’s go to bed, okay?”
They held each other for a long moment, the weight of the night slowly lifting as they stood there, wrapped in each other’s warmth. Eventually, they made their way to the bedroom, ready to find peace in the comfort of each other’s arms.
