The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm golden hue over the beach as Ken and Wenny gathered with their friends for a New Year’s Eve celebration. Laughter echoed around them, the sound mingling with the gentle crash of waves against the shore.

Ken stood by the grill, expertly flipping skewers of marinated chicken and vegetables. The smell of barbecue filled the air, making everyone’s mouths water. “If I burn this, you’re all going to have to eat my cooking for the rest of the year!” she joked, glancing over her shoulder at Wenny, who was setting up a table with colorful plates and cups.

“You’d better not! I’m not ready to start the year with a food poisoning scare!” Wenny shot back playfully, rolling her eyes. Their friends—Gean, Nera, Rio, and Yana—laughed, enjoying the friendly banter.

Bentley, Wenny’s little brother, was busy building a sandcastle nearby, determined to create the tallest fortress on the beach. “Look, Ken! Mine’s the biggest!” he called, his face smeared with sand and determination.

“Wow, Bentley! That looks amazing!” Ken responded, giving him a thumbs-up. “You’re going to be the king of the beach!”

As the evening wore on, they cooked delicious grilled food, shared stories, and sipped on freshly made juice and wine. Wenny’s mom and Ken’s parents joined in the festivities, adding a sense of warmth and familiarity to the gathering.

“Can you believe it’s already been a year?” Nera said, her voice full of nostalgia. “So much has happened, and we’ve all grown so much.”

Rio nodded, raising his glass. “To new beginnings and unforgettable memories! Cheers!”

Everyone clinked their glasses, laughter and joy filling the air. As the clock ticked closer to midnight, the atmosphere became electric with excitement.

Midnight Countdown

“Ten! Nine! Eight!” Bentley yelled, counting down with unrestrained enthusiasm.

The others joined in, their voices rising in unison. “Seven! Six! Five! Four! Three! Two! One! Happy New Year!”

As the clock struck midnight, fireworks exploded across the night sky, painting it in brilliant colors of red, blue, green, and gold. The crowd erupted in cheers and applause, their faces illuminated by the dazzling display.

Wenny turned to Ken, her eyes sparkling with delight. “This is amazing!” she exclaimed, her heart racing with excitement.

Ken smiled back, feeling a rush of love and happiness. The moment felt perfect, the air charged with possibilities. As the last firework lit up the sky, illuminating their surroundings, Ken took a deep breath, her heart pounding in her chest.

A Special Proposal

With the cheers of their friends ringing in the background and the fireworks still crackling in the air, Ken turned to Wenny, feeling a surge of determination. “Wenny,” she said, her voice steady yet filled with emotion, “there’s something I want to ask you.”

Wenny looked at Ken, her expression shifting from joy to curiosity. “What is it, Ken?”

Taking a deep breath, Ken reached into her pocket, retrieving a small velvet box. The moment felt surreal as she knelt down on one knee, her heart racing. “Wenny Lee Hyerim, from the moment I met you, you’ve filled my life with so much joy and love. I want to spend every moment of my life with you. Will you marry me?”

A hush fell over the group as everyone turned to watch the unfolding moment, their faces a mix of surprise and excitement.

Wenny’s eyes widened, glistening with tears of joy as she processed Ken’s heartfelt proposal. “Oh my gosh, Ken! Yes! Yes, I will!” she exclaimed, her voice breaking with happiness.
