JAXON HAD HOPED that once he left the event, the media storm would die down. maybe, just maybe, people would get bored and move on. but as soon as he woke up the next morning, his phone had other plans.

buzz.

buzz.

buzz.

jaxon rolled over in bed, groaning as his phone kept vibrating against the nightstand like it had a personal vendetta. he cracked one eye open, squinting at the brightness of the screen. his stomach sank as he saw the endless flood of notifications—tags, mentions, comments—everything about him and sabrina carpenter.

"you've got to be fucking kidding me," he muttered, grabbing the phone and unlocking it.

his inbox was on fire. article after article, all spinning the same narrative: jaxon and sabrina, hollywood's newest "it couple," finally spotted together at an event. he scrolled through, skimming the headlines that twisted their awkward conversation into some over-the-top romantic fantasy.

jaxon snorted at the last one. "jabrina" wasn't real. hell, it wasn't even a thing. it was a ship created by bored fans and an even more bored media.

he tossed his phone onto the bed, dragging a hand over his face. he could already feel the tension creeping up the back of his neck. the media had taken a five-minute conversation and turned it into an entire relationship, complete with wild speculation about their "chemistry" and "cozy" vibes.

"fuck this," he muttered, pushing himself out of bed. he made his way to the kitchen, dumping coffee into the pot and trying to shake off the unease that had settled over him.

his phone buzzed again, and jaxon's stomach twisted. he had a feeling he knew who it was this time.

sure enough, when he glanced at the screen, lily's name flashed in bold letters.

"of course," jaxon muttered, grabbing the phone and opening her message.
