SABRINA HAD BEEN DOING HER BEST to stay off social media for the past few days. every time she logged in, there were more headlines, more rumors, more comments from fans who didn't know the first thing about her relationship with jaxon. it was suffocating.

but just when she thought things couldn't get worse, her phone buzzed with a new notification—this time, a direct message on instagram.

and it was from lily.

sabrina's stomach dropped as she stared at the notification, her pulse quickening. what did lily want now? she had already made her move with the media, planting those subtle, cutting comments that had set the internet on fire. what more could she possibly have to say?

with trembling fingers, sabrina opened the message.

hey, sabrina. i think we need to talk. just you and me. no cameras, no headlines. i know this is messy, but i think we owe it to each other to clear the air. let me know if you're up for it.

_______________

sabrina's heart pounded in her chest as she read the message, her mind spinning. talk? why would lily want to talk to her? and what could she possibly say that she hadn't already hinted at in the press?

but part of sabrina knew exactly why lily wanted to talk. she wanted to twist the knife a little deeper, to plant more seeds of doubt. and the worst part? it was working.

because no matter how much sabrina wanted to believe jaxon's reassurances, no matter how much she wanted to trust that this thing between them was real, the media frenzy and lily's words were starting to get under her skin. and now, lily wanted to take it one step further.

sabrina hesitated for a moment, her finger hovering over the keyboard. she could ignore it, pretend she hadn't seen it. but deep down, she knew that wasn't an option. she needed to know what lily had to say. she needed to hear it for herself.
