IT HAD BEEN A FEW DAYS since jaxon had left lily's apartment, and the guilt was starting to eat away at him. he had thought that spending the night with her would make everything easier, would help him forget about the mess he had left behind with sabrina. but instead, it had only made everything worse.

he couldn't stop thinking about sabrina, couldn't stop replaying the last conversation they had over and over again in his mind. no matter how much he tried to convince himself that it was over, that they had made the right decision, the truth was always there, lurking in the back of his mind.

he hadn't moved on. not really.

sitting in the studio with ross, jack, and dylan, jaxon felt like he was going through the motions, pretending to care about the music they were working on, even though his heart wasn't in it.

"you've been out of it for days, man," ross said, his voice cutting through the haze of jaxon's thoughts. "what's going on?"

jaxon sighed, setting his guitar down as he leaned back against the couch. "i don't know. everything just feels... off."

ross raised an eyebrow. "this about sabrina?"

jaxon hesitated, then nodded. "yeah. and lily. i don't know. i spent the night with her, but it didn't fix anything. it just made me feel worse."

ross gave him a knowing look. "because you're still hung up on sabrina."

"i guess," jaxon muttered, rubbing a hand over his face. "but it's more than that. i thought being with lily would make everything easier, but it didn't. now i just feel like i've messed everything up even more."

"you can't fix heartbreak by running back to something comfortable," dylan chimed in from the other side of the room. "trust me. it never works."

jaxon let out a humorless laugh. "yeah, i'm starting to figure that out."

ross leaned forward, his expression serious. "so what are you going to do?"

jaxon shook his head, staring down at his hands. "i don't know. but i can't keep doing this. i can't keep pretending like everything's fine when it's not."

meanwhile, sabrina was sitting in a café with maddie and joey, trying to distract herself from the nagging thoughts that had been consuming her since she and jaxon had parted ways. she had told herself that it was over, that they had made the right choice, but no matter how much time passed, the ache in her chest wouldn't go away.

as they sat there, sipping their coffee, maddie glanced at her phone, her eyes widening slightly.

"uh... sab?" she said, her voice hesitant.

"what?" sabrina asked, frowning as she looked up from her cup.

maddie bit her lip, then turned her phone around so sabrina could see the screen. it was an instagram post from a fan account—one that had caught a picture of jaxon leaving lily-rose depp's apartment the morning after they had spent the night together.
