“They think they can cross me like this, they think they have the upper hand? I should have known that this is a game to them.” Venom drips from his words as Jack paces over the black marble of Sam’s office.
With his help, Sam closes a verbal agreement with Majestueux in Paris, and as soon as the partnership is announced, they began receiving better offers.
Even if we are not a local company, the Claymore group still holds a respectable position worldwide. I had a hunch that this was coming when they began avoiding my calls and emails.
With full force, he throws his glass against the wall, making me flinch. Sam silently watches her father, stirring the ice in her glass with the occasional gentle flick of her wrist. The one thing you should never do is attack the ego of a Claymore, yet for some reason, Sam is too calm about everything.
“We have known for a week that this deal would fall through, and we also know what we have to do.” Jack’s eyes darken with his iconic murderous smirk at Sam’s statement, no mercy is expected from his daughter.
I check the calendar on my phone and begin moving around her appointments already knowing what she is thinking. “We can leave on Thursday and be back by Sunday night.”
“I only need one day.” Sam states, stepping behind her desk and disappearing into her work immediately. Whatever her plan may be, it has already begun. I just need to sit back and wait till she is ready to tell me. Having a plan of my own, I clear her entire weekend instead of just the one day she thinks she needs.
We find ourselves stuck in the office until three in the morning. Sam not only wants to ruin Majestueux but wants an entire undertaking, replacing them in the market.
Months ago, she received a similar offer from Expédition United, but when the CEO died, their stocks dropped. At that point, Sam thought it was too much of a hassle investing with them, but for revenge, she is willing to bend over backwards and even take a loss.
A deal like this would normally take months to plan out, but somehow Sam manages to arrange a fifteen percent buy-out within three hours. She then spends the rest of the night calling every contact she has in the western hemisphere and convinces most of them to move their business from Majestueux to Expédition United, causing the company to lose ninety percent of their international business within one night. Majestueux has been playing power games with people for years and in the end, it takes Sam very little to persuade them.
With a tired but satisfied smirk, she finally takes a seat at the kitchen counter with a drink in hand. It’s been a long night for both of us, but now for me, the real work begins.
“I know that we are going for work, but I’m really excited to be visiting there again. It has been years since Lawrence took me.”
Her eyebrow silently arches up, clearly aware that I am up to something. We never have conversations like this. If Sam could just act normal for once, my manipulations could be much more subtle.
“It’s such a romantic place. You, having lived in England so long probably don’t see it like that, but any girl would be lucky to visit there.”
She smirks mildly, I’m sure she figured it out, but again Sam makes nothing easy for me. “You’re gonna make me spell it out for you?”
She is still cold and distant to everyone, but we have all noticed that she is a bit more responsive ever since things started with Zoë.
“It would be too much.”
The last word I would ever use to describe Sam is insecure, but she seems to be second-guessing everything when it comes to Zoë. For once, she actually cares about not crossing a line, and it seems to do nothing but frustrate her.
