There's something off about him today. Then again, everything about Gianni is strange. But today feels different. On my first day here, all he did was force me to watch a screen of Sam murdering and mutilating people. That alone was enough to destroy me. On the second day, I was dragged out of here and interrogated—or at least, that's what you could call it.
He was mostly interested in my personal life with Sam. Not that there was much to say. That's probably the most painful part of it all. I've come to realize I know nothing about her. She never gave me any indication of how she was feeling or what was going on in her mind. Her 'no questions' rule is starting to make more sense. Now, it feels like the last few months with her have just been about sex. How else can I explain that I know nothing about her beyond what she likes to do to me in bed and her favorite chicken?
Today, however, is different. Every five minutes, he keeps checking his phone. He asks me questions, but barely listens to my answers.
By my guess, he didn't even stay with me for an hour before a message came in on his phone. With a snap of his fingers, I was dragged back to our cell.
This time, however, Annie isn't in the room. She should be here, why isn't she? What are they doing to her?
I sit on my mattress, waiting silently, but eventually, my nerves get the better of me. Is this why Gianni was acting strange? From what I've gathered, she's just a punching bag for him. Over the years, she's been assaulted by more people, but most of the time, it was just him releasing his frustration on her.
Everything about his behavior is strange. So far, he hasn't shown any violent tendencies toward me. Then again, maybe I'm not the one to judge, given who I've been sleeping with. Up until now, he's only toyed with me.
I'm still keeping my guard up. Annie warned me about him. She said he wasn't violent towards her either during the first few weeks. But eventually, he got bored and lost his patience.
I've been trying to piece together a clear timeline from her. She's been through so much in this room. She claims to know every corner of it, and I believe her. She's even told me about a few of the people who stayed with her over the years. I still don't know how long she's been here. Honestly, part of me is afraid of the truth. I don't think she really knows herself. She said her best way of coping is not to talk about it too much, and I try to respect that.
The more time passes, the more anxious I get. I can't imagine what he's doing to her. And for this long. He really is a sick bastard. That poor woman is already so weak, what could he possibly want from her?
The small window at the top of the wall no longer lets in any light, it's been dark for hours now, by my guess. Despair sets in as I fight back my tears. This can't be good. It hasn't been long, but I've still grown attached to her. She's been kind to me, encouraging me to stay positive.
I hold my breath and focus, straining to hear any sign that she's alive, or any movement for that matter. Just as I'm about to give up, I hear a loud bang.
My body freezes. It's unmistakably loud. A few silent seconds pass, and then I hear it again. It has to be a gunshot, unfortunately, thanks to Addy, I recognize the sound all too well. There it goes again. And again. I hold my breath as I hear what I can only assume is a gunfight outside the cell door.
The same cell door that begins creaking on its rusted hinges. My heart races as I watch it slowly open. They've never come into this room so late. And I've never heard gunshots here before.
A dark figure steps into the room, and for a moment, I've never been so scared. I think about hiding, but there's nowhere to hide, and I'm chained by my foot.
