Kix stared at himself in the mirror. Wearing his black tux that they agreed to put on, he pulled out the ring on his finger and put it around his necklace. It’s the ring wherein he promised that he would marry Yumiko, but he has to take it off for a while since he don’t want anything to happen to the ring.
“I’ll put it back on if ever I survive this,” he whispered then went out of his room. Nasa barko na sila at kagabi pa iyon lumayag.
Noong una ay wala namang kahina-hinala sa cruise ship ngunit nang mag-obserba sila ay napansin nilang may lamang droga ang ilang kargo na alam nilang i-e-export nila sa ibang bansa.
Hindi lang iyon ang nakita nila kundi ay may mga baril din na kanilang ipagbibili sa black market.
Kix is whistling as he walks from the hallway. Mabuti na lang at hindi pa siya napapansin ng ilang mga naroon na alam niyang parte ng mafia, o kaya’y naghahanap lang sila ng magandang tiyempo para siya ay hulihin.
Either way, wala naman ang focus doon ni Kix kundi sa kaniyang ama. He haven’t even said hi to him after he went inside the cruise ship. Ngayon ay sosorpresahin niya ang ama at sasabihin dito na magdoble ingat siya. He has a mission on that ship and his father’s safety is his priority.
Sasabihin niya sa ama na umalis kaagad sa barko para hindi siya mapuruhan sa magiging kaganapan sa loob. Kix can feel that there will be something big that will happen in the ship that he must be prepared of. Siyempre ang una roon ay ang kaligtasan ng ama kaya sinabi niya sa mga kasama na kung wala siya sa tabi ng ama ay bantayan ito at sumang-ayon naman sila.
Their nameless organization is about protecting humanity and those who can’t fight for themselves— the weak ones. Hindi lang ang pagpapabagsak ng nasabing mafia ang kanilang magiging misyon kundi ay ang kaligtasan din ng bawat inosenteng mamamayan sa loob ng barko.
Mabilis na naglakad si Kix nang makita niya ang ama sa loob ng isang mini bar, umiinom at nakikipagkuwentuhan sa kasama nito.
When he got there, his father almost choked on the drinks he’s drinking. Gulat na gulat siyang makita ang anak sa harapan niya kaya dali-dali niyang isinantabi ang iniinom na alak.
“Really?” Tumaas ang isang kilay ni Kix na animo’y kinukuwestiyon ang ginagawa ng ama.
“I’m just having fun, Kix.” Napakamot sa ulo ang ama.
“It’s not even the time for dinner and yet you are here, drinking?” Kix’s tone isn’t mad but rather worried. Sa lahat ng ayaw niya ay umiinom ang ama lalo na at wala pa siyang kain.
Naalala niya noong bata pa siya bago tuluyang mawasak ang kanilang pamilya ay ganoon ang gawi ng kaniyang ama. Mag-iinom ito ng wala pang kain lalo na kung sobrang stressed siya sa trabaho. He bet that he even became more alcoholic when his mother left him.
“Oh come on, don’t be a killjoy, Kix. This is just one time! Anyway, you haven’t met my friend. This is Jaymar Mendez.”
Kix sighed and introduce himself to the man as a sign of respect. If his father wants to drink without eating anything then he can’t do nothing about it. It looks like his father is facing a serious problem, he can see that in his eyes. So he sat down beside his father and asked him what could the problem be.
Jaymar, his father’s friend, excused himself since he noticed that they need a man to man talk. Kix was thankful for that because he really wants to talk to his father and know what could he be thinking or feeling when he saw Kira again after a long year.
“Is there something wrong, old man? Pretty sure that you won’t get yourself drunk if there’s nothing going on.”
His father shook his head and drank another shot of alcohol. “It’s nothing, Kix.”
