14. untie

Scene 30: [Niall's apartment, Interior, 8:15pm]

Niall is on the phone with Louis franticly pacing around his bedroom, waiting for him to finish talking

LOUIS: "And so he goes crazy here and starts talking to the wall and then next thing I know is he has some concert tickets in his hands and he tells me Mick Jagger gave it to him." (obnoxious laugh)  "Does he really think I'll believe that?"

NIALL: (pacing even faster, bites his nails) "Yeah."

LOUIS: "Hey, you'd be laughing at what I'm saying by now. There's nothing you love more than Harry being an idiot."

NIALL: "Oh no, that's hilarious Louis." (lets out a laugh that comes out more like a whine)

LOUIS: "What's going on, you have another girl over or something?"

NIALL: "No, my situation is not necessarily a positive one."''

LOUIS: "You having girls over is bad enough."

NIALL: "No, I'm being serious here." (stops pacing) "Is Harry with you?"

LOUIS: (sarcastic) "Yes, I'm talking crap about Harry. He's sitting right next to me agreeing with everything I'm saying while viciously eating a banana."

NIALL: "I'll take that as a no."

LOUIS: "Smart guy. So, what's this bad thing?"

NIALL: "I kind of-"

LOUIS: "Kind of?"

NIALL: "Sort of."

LOUIS: "Sort of?"

NIALL: (cringes) "Possibly."

LOUIS: "Get on with the point already!"

NIALL: (looks up at the ceiling, running a hand through his hair) "I lost Harry's phone."

There is a long silence between the line besides Niall breathing heavily

LOUIS: "Welp, you're screwed bye."

NIALL: (frantic) "No, Louis help me."

LOUIS: "How did you lose it? All you do is sit in the electronic section all day."

NIALL: (bites his nails again) "Well.."

LOUIS: (voice low) "You didn't take someone's shift, did you?"

NIALL: "Possibly."

LOUIS: "That's the holy grail of do not ever do in the history of your employment at Target, Niall. (yelling) It's engraved into the employee handbook!"

NIALL: "It is not."

LOUIS: "You're right." (sighs) "Only people who are proactive and smart can take people's shifts."

NIALL: "And I'm not?"

LOUIS: "If you were you wouldn't have lost the phone, would you?"

NIALL: "Hey, I called you to help me, not sass me."

LOUIS: "I called, not you."

NIALL: "Whatever."

LOUIS: "Who's shift did you take? If it was Meryl's I completely understand."

NIALL: "No, it was actually, uh, Barbara?"
