CHAPTER 32: Fireworks

Malory savors the sunset breeze that she feels on her skin, both mind and eyes occupied by the sight of the beach. Her eyes stared at the purple and orange skies, enjoying the view of the sunrise. She still doesn't know what to feel. She has been left alone by Maverick and Ainsley but her heart remained slightly calm knowing what might happen tonight. 

She relentlessly sat on the chair waiting for her lover's presence dahil nararamdaman niyang isa na naman ito sa mga pakulo ni Mason. After a while of waiting, she felt a pair of hands wrapped on her nape. When she looked at the owner of the hands, she can't help but to smile lovingly towards the figure. 

"Hello, love. Surprised?" Mason asked as she moved her body closer towards Malory to hug the latter. 

"What's all this? Sabi ni Manong Jun emergency daw? This doesn't look like an emergency for me, love. Ano bang meron?" With the remaining curiosity at the back of her mind, Malory just found herself staring at her girlfriend, hoping to find the answers that she's seeking for. 

Mason sat on the chair at the other end of the table, facing Malory. She just flashed a soft smile towards her lover and reached its hand, caressing it lovingly before explaining. 

"This was the emergency. Alam ko na you feel neglected the past few days because I was too busy. I feel bad and guilty knowing that I treated you that way. I wanted to surprise you a little para makabawi. I know that the gifts were not enough to serve as my apology so I planned this 1 week out of the country for us." The younger can't help but to feel her flushed cheeks, feeling touched of her lover's actions. Mason's warm palm against her made her heart beat faster as she felt the sincere apology coming from Mason. 

"Alam mo namang isang sorry lang ang kailangan ko. You don't have to reach to this extent. Tsaka 1 week? Aren't you too busy for that?" As much as Malory was happy at the thought that they'll be spending time on each other's presence for a week, she can't help but to show concern especially on Mason's career. She's aware of her girlfriend's responsibility and she doesn't want to interfere with it. 

"You don't deserve a mere apology, Yves. I felt too bad after realizing that I haven't given you much of my time lalo na that there are times where I ditched you on our dates. Gusto kong bumawi by proving to you that I'll never be too busy if it comes to you starting from now. Don't think about anything else because I only want you to enjoy here in Bali." 

"Bali?! Bali, Indonesia? What the hell, Mason! Akala ko nasa Pilipinas lang tayo!" Malory's startled voice can't help but make Mason laugh, seeing how surprised and unbelievable the situation is for her girlfriend. 

"Ang OA mo na naman. Yes, we're in Bali, Indonesia. I'm happy that you're that surprised. I saw it on one of your shared posts na gusto mong pumunta rito so here we are." 

The couple started eating as they exchanged a warm and peaceful conversation. They were able to make the place as their own world. Nothing but their voices, warm laughs, and the sound of nature surrounded the whole place. When they finished their food, they started to drink the expensive wine served at their table. 

Mason suddenly stood up from their chair after emptying her glass which made Malory startled. 

"Tapos na ba? Papasok na ba tayo?" Malory asked, confusion evident on her face.

Mason removed her suit. The CEO was still wearing her office attire, a white button up shirt where some of the buttons are released, tucked in her slightly fitted black slacks. 

Malory just stared at her lover as she examined how good she looks right now. 

Tangina, ang poganda ang bango-bango pa. Thank you, lord for the gift. 

Mason slowly walked towards her and pulled a handkerchief from her pocket. She kissed the crown of Malory's head before using the handkerchief to cover Malory's precious eyes. 

"Love? What are you doing?" 

"Just wait. Do you trust me?" 

"Y-yes. Of course, I do." Malory can only answer kahit nakakaramdam na naman siya ng kaba. Her girlfriend was always full of surprises. Each surprises were ones that she was never able to predict.

"Okay then. Give me a few minutes at wag mong tatanggalin ang takip ng mata mo. I'll be the one to remove it."

Malory nodded, excitement and anticipation creeping in. The night's about to end ngunit mukhang hindi pa natatapos ang mga supresa sa kanya ni Mason. She felt loved and treasured once again. 

Maya-maya pa ay naramdaman niya ang dalawang kamay ni Mason sa magkabilang tagiliran niya para alalayan siyang tumayo. Unti-unti siyang inalalayan maglakad ni Mason at ang tanging naririnig niya lang ang ay bawat tibok ng puso niya. 

When they stopped, tinanggal ni Mason ang panyo mula sa mga mata niya at niyakap si Malory mula sa likod nito. 

"Count from 1-3. After saying 3, I want you to look at the night sky only. Wait for something. Okay?" Malory bit her lower lip, fighting the huge smile that wants to escape from her lips. Mason detached from the hug and stood besides her lover.

She obeyed Mason and started to count. 

"1.."



"2.."



"3.."

As Malory finished counting, her eyes fixed on the night sky, her eyes were welcomed by the sight of beautiful fireworks. She can't help but to gasp. The fireworks was displayed with various colors and it was enough to lit up the sky. The younger was occupied by the fireworks enough for her to not notice that Mason was now behind her. 

Maya-maya pa ay isa-isang sumulpot sa langit ang mga salita na nabasa ni Malory. She mouthed the words one by one, anticipating whatever it means. 


"Yves.."

"Will.."

"You.."

"Marry.."

"Me?"

Agad na tinakpan ni Malory ang bibig niya pagkatapos mabuo ang mga salitang sumulpot galing sa fireworks. When she looked behind her, eyes finding Mason, her eyes landed on the latter who was now kneeling infront of her. Her hands holding an opened jewelry box, with a diamond ring on it. 


This whole thing was what made Mason busy for over the few months. She was so sure of Malory and she knows that marrying her girl is the thing that will complete her life. She prepared everything making sure that nothing will be wrong this time.

Malory's eyes who were just staring at Mason was now filled with happy tears. She can't believe that Mason was proposing to her right now. She noticed how Mason's face was full of nervousness, her hands holding the ring a bit shaking. 

"Yves, sobra akong nagpapasalamat na bumalik ka sa buhay ko. Bata palang tayo, I would always imagine how life would be if its with you. I have so much love for you to the point that I was surprised because I never thought that I have the capability to love someone this much. You fill a certain void in my life that only you can occupy. I will ask you again. Will you please marry me, Malory Yves?" Mason lets out a shaky sigh, her body filled with anxiety as she can't imagine how her life would be if ever her proposal will be turned down. Her shaking eyes stared at Malory, expecting to hear the answer that will lead her heart to burst out of happiness. 

Instead of speaking, Malory reached out for Mason's arm and guided her to stand up, proceeding to hug the latter tightly. Both of them bursting into tears. When they pulled away, arms still attached to each other's body, Malory pressed their foreheads together before beginning to speak. 

"Yes, I will marry you. Without any doubts, love." Mason shut both of her eyes, both of her fists raising in the air as she screamed on top of her lungs.

"T-talaga? Thank you, baby. I love you! I love you so much!" Mason exclaimed, full of happiness in her heart. Malory just chuckled seeing her girlfriend or should I say fiancé in this state. 

Malory cupped Mason's face with her palms and sealed its lip with a meaningful kiss. As their kiss deepened, the night sky once again was filled with fireworks display. They both smiled in the kiss before pulling away and exchanging their I love you's. 

Maya-maya pa ay nakarinig sila ng mga palakpak. Hindi nila napansin na nakatayo na pala ang mga kaibigan nila habang pinapanood ang lahat. 

They saw Maverick and Ainsley's little girl running towards them. Their arms welcomed, Maliyah Adrienne, with Mason carrying the child. 

"Congrats Tata Mason and Tata Malory! I'm so happy! Please give me a playmate po . My mom and mommy told me to ask one from you." Maliyah excitedly exclaimed, her hands clasping together. 

All of their friends went near to congratulate the couple at nasundan ito ng mga pang-aasar. 

"Oh narinig nyo si Maliyah ha bigyan niyo na ng kalaro yan." Ainsley explained, getting her child from Mason's arm. 

"Oo nga! Alam niyo since we arrived this morning wala na akong pahinga dahil kinalaro niya ko the whole day" Seraphine voiced out, voice full of exaggeration. 

"Mamaya gagawa na kami. Diba, love?" Mason teasingly said causing Malory to hit her arms.
